Hellen Jemaiyo Kimutai (born 28 December 1977) is a Kenyan marathon runner. She started out in cross country running and was fourth in the junior race at the 1993 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, taking the team gold medal with Kenya in a perfect score. She set a course record time of 1:05:28 hours to win the 20 Kilomètres de Paris in 2000. Her personal best time is 2:25:53 hours, achieved in April 2003 winning the Hamburg Marathon. Her first senior international competition came at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics, where she finished ninth for Kenya in the marathon. Wesley Ngetich Kimutai (December 15, 1977 – January 21, 2008) was a Kenyan marathon runner. He was born in 1977 in Kiribwet, Kirindoni division, Trans Mara District. He went to Olpopongi Primary School, but did not go to high school, since his parents could not afford to pay his school fees. He did not compete outside of Kenya until 2003. He finished 5th at the 2004 Nairobi Marathon, timing 2:15:15 hours. He won the Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota, in 2005 and 2007. Ngetich set his personal best of 2:12:10 hours when he finished second at the Houston Marathon in 2006. Post-election violence in his home country forced him and 13 other runners to drop out of the January 2008 Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon in Phoenix, Arizona. Kipsigis People
The Kipsigis or Kipsigiis are a Nilotic tribe in Kenya. They are contingent of the Kalenjin ethnic group and speak Kipsigis language, a tonal language which is closely related to a group of languages collectively known as Kalenjin language. It is observed that the Kipsigis and an aboriginal race native to Kenya known as Ogiek have a merged identity. The Kipsigis are the most numerous of the Kalenjin. The latest Census population in Kenya put the kipsigis at 1.972 Million speakers accounting for 45% of all kalenjin speaking people (both in Kenya and Uganda). Japheth Kimutai (born December 20, 1978, in Lelmokwo, Nandi District) is a Kenyan middle-distance runner who specialized in 800 metres. In 1998 he won the gold medal at the Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games in a time of 1:43.82. In the same year he won the African Championships 800 metres in Dakar, Senegal. He finished fourth at the 1998 IAAF World Cup In 1999 he won gold at the All-Africa Games. Raymond Kimutai Bett (born 1984 in Iten) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in the marathon. Biography He ran at the Rad&Run am Ring in Nürburg in 2005, winning the running competition on the Nürburgring Formula One circuit with a course record time. In 2007 he won the Halve van Hoogland half marathon in a personal best of 1:06:35 and also at De 30 van Almere, completing the 30 km race in 1:30:59. He made his debut over the marathon distance at the Brussels Marathon and was ninth with a time of 2:23:40. David Kimutai Too (August 23, 1968 – January 31, 2008) was a Kenyan politician affiliated to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). He was a high school teacher and then a principal from Kericho in Rift Valley, Kenya before being elected to the National Assembly from Ainamoi Constituency from a field of 13 candidates in the December 2007 parliamentary election. Charles Keter, a fellow Member of Parliament, described Too as "a very humble, quiet man." The "List of alleged perpetrators" of the 2007/2008 post-electoral violence of the Kenya National Human Rights Commission however lists him among the suspects on place 3 (page 180) and charges him with "planning, incitement, and financing the violence".
