Kim Ki-duk
Kim Ki-duk ( ; 20 December 196011 December 2020) was a South Korean film director and screenwriter, noted for his idiosyncratic art-house cinematic works. His films have received many distinctions in the festival circuit, rendering him one of the most important contemporary Asian film directors. His major festival awards include the Golden Lion at 69th Venice International Film Festival for ''Pietà'', a Silver Lion for Best Director at 61st Venice International Film Festival for '' 3-Iron'', a Silver bear for Best Director at 54th Berlin International Film Festival for ''Samaritan Girl'', and the Un Certain Regard prize at 2011 Cannes Film Festival for ''Arirang''. Arirang (2011 Film)
''Arirang'' ( ko, 아리랑) is a 2011 South Korean documentary film by Kim Ki-duk. The film addresses a personal crisis Kim went through, sparked by an incident during the filming of his previous film, ''Dream'', where the lead actress nearly died by hanging, and by the departure of a couple of close colleagues, including the director Jang Hoon. The title comes from a Korean folk song with the same title. In a heavily line-broken text released about the film, Kim writes that "Through ''Arirang'' I understand human beings, thank the nature, and accept my life as it is now." North Gyeongsang Province
North Gyeongsang Province ( ko, 경상북도, translit=Gyeongsangbuk-do, ) is a province in eastern South Korea. The province was formed in 1896 from the northern half of the former Gyeongsang province, and remained a province of Korea until the country's division in 1945, then became part of South Korea. Daegu was the capital of North Gyeongsang Province between 1896 and 1981, but has not been a part of the province since 1981. In 2016, the provincial capital moved from Daegu to Andong. ''Rough Cut'' (; lit. "A Movie is a Movie") is a 2008 South Korean action film. It is the debut feature of director Jang Hoon and based on an original story by Kim Ki-duk. The film had a total of 1,307,688 admissions nationwide. Synopsis Gang-pae, played by So Ji-sub, is a local organized crime leader who still wishes he could be in movies. Soo-ta, played by Kang Ji-hwan, is a haughty actor who is easy to provoke. Jang Hoon (born May 4, 1975) is a Koreans, South Korean film director. He directed the films ''Rough Cut (2008 film), Rough Cut'' (2008), ''Secret Reunion'' (2010), ''The Front Line (2011 film), The Front Line'' (2011), and ''A Taxi Driver '' (2017). Career Jang Hoon (along with Jang Cheol-soo and Juhn Jai-hong) honed his directorial skills as an assistant director under Kim Ki-duk. Juhn Jai-hong
Juhn Jai-hong (; born 1977) is a South Korean film director. He directed ''Beautiful'' (2008) and ''Poongsan'' (2011). Career Early life Juhn Jai-hong was born in Seoul, and began receiving vocal lessons in the third grade. He moved to the United States at the age of 15 and after graduating from the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, he continued studying the art of singing in Vienna, Austria.
