Kim Eastland
Kimber "Kim" Lee Eastland (February 26, 1952 – January 29, 2020) was a game designer who worked for TSR. Early life Kim Eastland was born in Moline, Illinois, one of two children of Everett and Margaret Eastland. He attended Alleman High School in nearby Rock Island, then earned a bachelor's degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, studying pre-med, English, and theater. Career In 1981, at age 19, Eastland began working for the tabletop miniatures manufacturer Grenadier Models as their publicist and the editor of their new newsletter, ''The Grenadier Bulletin''. In 1983, he started working for TSR from his home in Moline, becoming the network coordinator of the RPGA, succeeding founder Frank Mentzer. He also became managing editor of the RPGA's newsletter, ''Polyhedron''. ''Gamma World'' is a science fantasy role-playing game, originally designed by James M. Ward and Gary Jaquet, and first published by TSR in 1978. It borrowed heavily from Ward's earlier game, ''Metamorphosis Alpha''. Setting ''Gamma World'' takes place in the mid-25th century, more than a century after a second nuclear war had destroyed human civilization. ''The Last Resort'' is a role-playing game adventure published by TSR in 1985 for the '' Marvel Super Heroes'' role-playing game. Plot summary ''The Last Resort'' contains a scenario for four players, who take on the roles of the West Coast Avengers: Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Tigra and Wonder Man (although there are suggestions for how the gamemaster can adapt the adventure to other superheroes). Game mechanics The game's main rules are adapted from the '' Marvel Super Heroes'' rules, a role-playing game first published by TSR in 1984 and mainly designed by Jeff Grubb, although Zeb Cook brought some help, as stated by Grubb himself. The system refers D100 dice rolls to a resolution table. Mark Krawec, a member of the RPGnet community, recovered the system from the past in 2007, named it ZeFRS (Zeb's Fantasy Roleplaying System) and published a free PDF document where the game mechanics had been completely expurgated from any licensed Conan material. Two years later, in 2009, a ZeFRS paperback book was printed and distributed.

Gen Con is the largest tabletop game convention in North America by both attendance and number of events. It features traditional pen-and-paper, board, and card games, including role-playing games, miniatures wargames, live action role-playing games, collectible card games, and strategy games.
