Kilmarnock RFC
Kilmarnock Rugby Football Club is a Scottish rugby union club which was founded in 1868, and is based in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire in west central Scotland. They play in . Often simply referred to as "Killie", their ground is at Bellsland in Kilmarnock, and they were formerly based at Rugby Park (hence its name). One of the oldest rugby clubs in Scotland, Kilmarnock Football Club owes its existence to KRFC as an internal dispute about which football rules to adopt resulted in a breakaway in early 1869 by those who preferred to play Association Football. History When the Scottish National Leagues were introduced in 1973, Killie were placed in the 3rd Division by the Scottish Rugby Union. The club won that season without loss. The following season saw Killie being runners up in Division 2, gaining promotion to the top league. Kilmarnock
Kilmarnock (, sco, Kilmaurnock; gd, Cill Mheàrnaig (IPA:[kʰʲɪʎˈveaːɾnəkʲ]), "Marnock's church") is a large town and former burgh in East Ayrshire, Scotland and is the administrative centre of East Ayrshire, East Ayrshire Council. With a population of 46,770, Kilmarnock is the List of towns and cities in Scotland by population, 14th most populated settlement in Scotland and the largest town in Ayrshire. The town is continuous to nearby neighbouring villages Crookedholm and Hurlford to the east, and Kilmaurs to the west of the town. Bill Cuthbertson
William Cuthbertson (born 6 December 1949) is a former Scotland international rugby union player. He won twenty one caps for Scotland playing as a lock. Rugby Union career Amateur career In 1980 he played club rugby for Kilmarnock RFC. He went on to play for Harlequin F.C. He was also known by the nickname "Cubby". Provincial career He played for Glasgow District in Scottish Inter-District Championship. International career He was capped by Scotland 'B' twice in 1980. Cuthbertson’s first international match was against Ireland at Lansdowne Road on 2 February 1980, where he was one of five new caps. Hugh Montgomerie Hamilton (26 June 1854 – 11 August 1930) was an Australian barrister and judge who played international rugby union for Scotland from 1874 to 1875. Early life Hamilton was born at Parramatta in the Colony of New South Wales, the eldest son of Margaret Clunes and Hugh Hamilton, a pastoralist from Ayrshire, Scotland.
