Kikuchi Clan
The of Higo Province was a powerful daimyō family of Higo, Kyūshū. The lineage was renowned for valiant service in defense of the emperor and against foreign invaders. They initially distinguished themselves during the Jürchen invasion of northern Kyūshū in 1019 and rose to prominence during the Mongol invasions of Japan when the heroism of Kikuchi Takefusa helped drive back the enemy. Yoshihiko Kikuchi
has been a general authority of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1977, and was the first native Asian to be called as a general authority of the Church. Kikuchi was born on the island of Hokkaido. His father served in the military during the Second World War and was killed by an American torpedo while at sea. Kikuchi was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was taught the gospel as a teenager by American missionaries in the 1950s. As a young man, Kikuchi served as a full-time proselyting missionary in the Northern Far East Mission for two and a half years, and a labor missionary for an additional year. He graduated in 1968 from Tokyo Asia University with a degree in Business Psychology and Management. Kikuchi Disease
Kikuchi disease was described in 1972 in Japan. It is also known as histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, Kikuchi necrotizing lymphadenitis, phagocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, subacute necrotizing lymphadenitis, and necrotizing lymphadenitis. Kikuchi disease occurs sporadically in people with no family history of the condition. It was first described by Dr Masahiro Kikuchi (1935–2012) in 1972 and independently by Y. Fujimoto. Signs and symptoms The signs and symptoms of Kikuchi disease are fever, enlargement of the lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy), skin rashes, and headache. Kikuchi lines are patterns of electrons formed by scattering. They pair up to form bands in electron diffraction from single crystal specimens, there to serve as "roads in orientation-space" for microscopists uncertain of what they are looking at. In transmission electron microscopes, they are easily seen in diffraction from regions of the specimen thick enough for multiple scattering.
