''Asia's Got Talent'' is a televised Asian talent show competition, and part of the global ''Got Talent'' franchise created by Simon Cowell. Produced and aired by AXN Asia, it was created in the wake of the successes of both ''America's Got Talent'' and ''Britain's Got Talent'', and premiered on March 12, 2015, across 15 countries in Asia. For each season, a contestants of any age can audition for the televised contest with whatever talent they wish to demonstrate, with the winner receiving a prize of $100,000. Gerphil Geraldine Flores is a German-Filipino classical crossover singer. In 2015, she joined the inaugural season of '' Asia's Got Talent'', where she finished as second runner-up. A soprano, she was dubbed "Asia's Golden Girl." Personal life Flores was born in Hamburg, Germany to a German father and a Filipino mother of Chinese, Japanese and Spanish descent. El Gamma Penumbra is a Filipino all male shadow play group, best known for being the winners of the first season of '' Asia's Got Talent''. Etymology El Gamma Penumbra comes from the words ''Gamma'' and ''Penumbra'', which (in the words of the group) refer to the ideas of light (gamma rays) and shadow. It refers to "the ray of light (behind) a man's shadow". History Early career El Gamma Penumbra was first founded in 2008 as a hip-hop boy group, competing in dance contests in Tanauan, their home town in the province of Batangas, in southwest Luzon (about a one-hour drive from Manila).
