Khin Yu May
Khin Yu May ( my, ခင်ယုမေ, ; 23 March 1937 – 23 January 2014) was a two-time Myanmar Academy Award winning actress and singer. Biography She was born on 23 March 1937 in Yangon, Myanmar, daughter of U Yu Swan and Daw Kyin Myaing. Her sister, Khin Yu Swe, is a singer. In 1953, she began her recording career with the song ''May Pan Chi'' written by Myo Ma Thi. In 1958, she crossed over to films with a role in ''A-Thet'' by famous director Chin Sein, and ''I Bawa We'', directed by Po Par Gyi. The Three B Company signed her to do three films, and selected her to star in the film Bo Mya Din. She won two Myanmar Academy Awards in her career: in ''Ko Paing Myitta'' in 1961 and ''Shwe Chi Ngwe Chi Tan Ba Lo'' in 1975. Yangon ( my, ရန်ကုန်; ; ), formerly spelled as Rangoon, is the capital of the Yangon Region and the largest city of Myanmar (also known as Burma). Yayway Cemetery ( my, ရေဝေးသုသာန်, also spelt Yeway Cemetery) is a cemetery located in North Okkalapa Township, Yangon, Myanmar. The cemetery is the final resting place of many prominent Burmese. The cemetery is maintained by the Yangon City Development Committee's environmental maintenance department. Yayway Cemetery also consists of various ethnic and religious cemeteries, including those of the Burmese Indians, Sino-Burmese (Hakka, Cantonese, Hokkien, and Yunnanese), Karen, Japanese, Baháʼís, Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Parsis, and Jews. The Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards are presented annually to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Burmese Film Industry of Myanmar. Po Par Gyi ( my, ဖိုးပါကြီး, ; March 1917 – January 14, 1980) was a popular traditional Burmese opera performer and two-time Myanmar Academy Award winning actor known for his comic roles. Biography Po Par Gyi was born Nyunt Hlaing in Bassein, Irrawaddy Division (now Pathein, Ayeyarwady Region) to San Pe, a Customs Inspector and his wife Hla. He graduated from Hinthada Government High School in 1936. Pursuing his interest in singing and dancing, he got his first break in 1938 with a starring role in a silent film ''Lu Pyo Tho'' produced by the Rangoon Film Company. But he would achieve fame in traditional Burmese opera. During the Japanese occupation (1942–1945), he moved to Yangon and became an opera actor in Director Kyaw Aye's ''Ye Ye Khaw Daw'' Opera.
