Khar, Bajaur
Khar ( ps, ښار, ''X̌ār''), also spelled Khaar, is the headquarters of the Bajaur District of Pakistan. Khar was one of the largest towns in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in 2018), and lies near the border with Afghanistan. Bajur scouts headquarters is also located in the town. Civil colony is located in this town and this place is the court of Bajour controlling by political agent. History On October 30, 2006, Chenagai airstrike happened near Khar. Pakistani helicopter gunships fired missiles and destroyed an al-Qaeda-linked training facility and killed 80 local students of in a northwestern tribal area near the Afghan border, in a madrassa. Chenagai Airstrike
The Chenagai airstrike took place on October 30, 2006, around 5:00 am local time. Missiles were fired at a madrassa in Chenagai village in Bajaur region of Pakistan. An eyewitness has stated that the madrassa was filled with local students who had resumed studies after the Eid ul-Fitr holiday. 82 people died in the attack. The United States was accused of the attacks. The U.S. government denied involvement in the attack. Long War Journal blamed U.S. for the air strike as only U.S. was able to conduct precision night strikes in the region. The role of United States in the airstrike was confirmed later on.
