Khalisani Mahavidyalaya is one of the oldest college in Chandannagar, in the Hooghly district, West Bengal, India. It offers undergraduate courses in arts, commerce and sciences. History The institution was established on 1 September 1970 to cater to the educational and cultural needs for the people of a locality stretching to the rural neighborhood in the western fringe of the town of ''Chandannagar''. The establishment was possible because of the initiative taken by some pious and philanthropic persons. University Grants Commission (UGC) is a statutory body set up by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India in accordance to the UGC Act 1956 and is charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education in India.
