Kfar Zoharim
Kfar Zoharim (), officially Ramot Yehuda-Zoharim (), is an Israeli educational therapy youth village for teenagers aged 14–18 from the ultra-orthodox community who do not fit into regular educational frameworks. It falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Yehuda Regional Council. In it had a population of . History The village was established in 1993 by former members of the Black Panthers. It was named after the singer Zohar Argov, a drug addict. The village was managed by Ramot Yehuda, an organization that received funding from the National Authority for the War on Drugs. The treatment program lasted a year and a half. There was also an emergency center for drug addicts. Mateh Yehuda Regional Council
Mateh Yehuda Regional Council ( he, מועצה אזורית מטה יהודה, ''Mo'atza Azorit Mateh Yehuda'', ar, مجلس إقليمي ماتيه يهودا ) is a regional council in the Jerusalem District of Israel. In 2008 it was home to 36,200 people. The name of the regional council stems from the fact that its territory was part of the land allotted to the Tribe of Judah, according to the Bible. Places and communities The regional council administers moshavim, kibbutzim, Arab villages and other rural settlements in the Jerusalem corridor, north and south of the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway, from Jerusalem in the southeast to Latrun in the northwest, and down to the area of Beit Shemesh ( Ha'ela Valley) in the south. Youth Village
A youth village ( he, כפר נוער, ''Kfar No'ar'') is a boarding school model first developed in Mandatory Palestine in the 1930s to care for groups of children and teenagers fleeing the Nazis. Henrietta Szold and Recha Freier were the pioneers in this sphere, known as youth aliyah, creating an educational facility that was a cross between a European boarding school and a kibbutz. History The first youth village was Mikve Israel. In the 1940s and 1950s, a period of mass immigration to Israel, youth villages were an important tool in immigrant absorption. Zohar Argov
Zohar Argov ( he, זוהר ארגוב, born , Zohar Orkabi, July 16, 1955 – November 6, 1987) was an Israeli singer and a distinctive voice in the Mizrahi music scene. Argov is widely known in Israel as "The king of Mizrahi music". Biography Zohar Argov was born in Rishon LeZion, Israel, to Ovadia and Yona Orkabi, Jewish parents who immigrated from Yemen. He was the eldest of ten children. He displayed a talent for singing in childhood, and his classmates nicknamed him "nightingale". All his siblings also displayed an interest in music. Yitzchak Dovid Grossman ( he, יצחק דוד גרוסמן) (born 15 September 1946 in Jerusalem), also known as the "Disco Rabbi", is the Chief Rabbi of Migdal HaEmek, founder and dean of Migdal Ohr educational institutions, and a member of the Chief Rabbinate Council of Israel.
