Kevin Parsons (politician)
Kevin Parsons, Jr. MHA, (born 1961) is a Canadian politician from Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. He currently serves as the Caucus Chair for the Progressive Conservative Party. Parsons has represented the electoral district of Cape St. Francis in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly since 2008. He has previously served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development. Prior to entering provincial politics Parsons was the Mayor of Flatrock. The Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly is the Unicameralism, unicameral deliberative assembly of the General Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It meets in the Confederation Building (Newfoundland and Labrador), Confederation Building in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, St. John's. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Monarchy in Newfoundland and Labrador, King of Canada in Right of Newfoundland and Labrador, represented by the Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador. The governing party sits on the left side of the speaker of the House of Assembly as opposed to the traditional right side of the speaker. Flatrock is a town in Newfoundland and Labrador. The town had a population of 1,722 in the Canada 2021 Census. Most of the people in Flatrock are of Irish descent. There are some families who are descended from the few Norwegian settlers who came to Flatrock in the 19th century.
