Kevin McDermott (singer–songwriter)
Kevin Francis McDermott (born 10 February 1962 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Scottish musician, singer and songwriter. Early life Kevin Francis McDermott was born 10 February 1962, to Evelyn and Frank McDermott. He has two younger brothers, Paul, and Jim. When his family emigrated to Canada for a period, he attended the Holy Name School in Toronto. Upon their return to Glasgow, he attended Our Lady of the Assumption School, in Ruchill, and then St Charles School, and St Columba of Iona School, in Maryhill. The first album McDermott bought was Buddy Holly Lives. He was influenced by both ''Buddy Holly'', and ''The Beatles''. He was given an acoustic guitar by his Uncle Joe, at age 14, and taught himself to play by ear. McDermott joined Yarrow Shipbuilders Limited in 1978, when he was sixteen years old, working as a ship draughtsman. INXS (a word play, phonetic play on "in excess") were an Australian Rock music, rock band, formed as The Farriss Brothers in 1977 in Sydney, New South Wales. Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner (born 2 October 1951), known as Sting, is an English musician and actor. The Alarm
The Alarm are a Welsh rock band that formed in Rhyl, Wales, in 1981. Initially formed as a punk band, the Toilets, in 1977, under lead vocalist Mike Peters, the band soon embraced arena rock and included marked influences from Welsh language and culture. By opening for acts such as U2 and Bob Dylan, they became a popular new wave pop band of the 1980s. Blair Cowan (musician)
Blair Cowan is a Scottish musician, formerly a member of Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. Following the breakup of that band, he continued to collaborate with Lloyd Cole early in the singer's solo career, playing and co-writing on 1990's ''Lloyd Cole'' and 1991's ''Don't Get Weird on Me Babe''. He has since performed on other artists' recordings, including Del Amitri, Texas, the Hot Rod Cadets, the Kevin McDermott Orchestra, and Alisdair Robertson. His collaboration with Robertson resulted in the album ''Confessions of a Justified Singer''. He plays piano, keyboards, accordion, and melodica. Robbie McIntosh (born 25 October 1957) is an English guitarist. McIntosh is well known as a session guitarist and member of The Pretenders from 1982 until 1987. In 1988 he began doing session guitar work for Paul McCartney joining his band full-time until early 1994. ''Mother Nature's Kitchen'' is the debut album from the Scottish singer/songwriter Kevin McDermott with his band ''Kevin McDermott Orchestra''. History Following his solo album, ''Suffocation Blues'', Kevin McDermott formed the ''Kevin McDermott Orchestra''/''KMO'', with an initial line-up of Jim McDermott on drums, Steph Greer on bass, anChris Brambleon percussion. They started performing the material that would become ''Mother Nature's Kitchen''. McDermott distributed ''KMO'' demos to record companies, the recordings now without Bramble, and with Iain Harvie, and they were soon signed to Island Records. The Icicle Works (also known as Icicle Works in the United States) are an English alternative rock band and were named after the 1960 short story "The Day the Icicle Works Closed" by science fiction author Frederik Pohl. They had a top 20 UK hit with "Love Is a Wonderful Colour" (1983). In the US and Canada, they had only one top 40 hit, the 1984 single "Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)".
