Kevin Higgins (poet)
Kevin Higgins (1967 – 10 January 2023) was an Irish poet. Early life and education At the age of 15 he joined Galway West Labour Party, and became a member of the local Labour Youth section. Activity Higgins lived in London in the late 1980s where he was active in the "anti-poll tax movement". He lived in Galway from the mid-1990s, and with his wife, Susan Millar DuMars, co-organised the Over The Edge literary events in Galway City. He also facilitated poetry workshops at the Galway Arts Centre; taught creative writing at the Galway Technical Institute and National University of Ireland, Galway, and was Writer-in-Residence at Merlin Park Hospital. He was, with Michael S. Begnal, a founding co-editor of literary magazine ''The Burning Bush''. Higgins's first collection of poems, ''The Boy With No Face'', was published by Salmon Poetry in February 2005. Galway ( ; ga, Gaillimh, ) is a City status in Ireland, city in the West Region, Ireland, West of Ireland, in the Provinces of Ireland, province of Connacht, which is the county town of County Galway. Alan Morrison (poet)
Alan Duncan Morrison (born 18 July 1974, Brighton) is a British poet. Overview of works Morrison's work is influenced by poets including John Davidson and Harold Monro, and Anglo-Welsh poets Alun Lewis and Dylan Thomas. However, his earliest influences were John Keats, Wilfred Owen, William Blake, Andrew Marvell, Emily Brontë and Percy Shelley. His poems are often characterised by social and polemical traits. Morrison selected, edited and designed the Collected Poems of David Kessel, ''O the Windows of the Bookshop Must Be Broken.'' /sup> Between 2007 and 2012 he ran poetry workshops at Mill View psychiatric hospital, Hove. Susan Millar DuMars
Susan Millar DuMars, Irish-American poet and short fiction author, was born in Philadelphia in 1966. Millar DuMars was born and raised in Philadelphia by her mother who originated from Belfast. In 1997, she visited Galway during the Galway Arts Festival, and has since made the city her home. Her husband is the poet Kevin Higgins, and the couple have organised the 'Over the Edge' reading series. The pair have also facilitated creative writing workshops throughout Galway since 2003. The Galway Film Fleadh (; Irish for "festival") is an international film festival founded in 1989 as part of the Galway Arts Festival. Describing itself as Ireland’s leading film festival, the event is held every July in Galway city in Ireland.
