Brian Volk-Weiss (born May 28, 1976) is an American film and television producer and director. He is the founder and current chief executive officer (CEO) of The Nacelle Company and its subsidiary company, Comedy Dynamics. Volk-Weiss is the creator, producer, and occasional director of the current Netflix series, '' The Toys That Made Us'' and ''The Movies That Made Us'', along with the television specials, ''Kevin Hart's Guide to Black History'' and ''Discontinued'' (originally on The CW). Josh Gardner (born 1971 in New York City) is an American comedian and writer, Gardner is best known for his role as Saul Malone, a ''Gee-al-agist'', on Adult Swim's cult-classic ''Saul of the Mole Men''. Gardner first appeared on TV under the name Gerhard Reinke, the German host of the Comedy Central travel show, Gerhard Reinke's Wanderlust, in 2003 (his real name was not listed in the credits as an actor, only as an Originator and Producer). Vivien Thomas
Vivien Theodore Thomas (August 29, 1910 – November 26, 1985) was an American laboratory supervisor who developed a procedure used to treat blue baby syndrome (now known as cyanotic heart disease) in the 1940s. He was the assistant to surgeon Alfred Blalock in Blalock's experimental animal laboratory at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and later at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Thomas was unique in that he did not have any professional education or experience in a research laboratory; however, he served as supervisor of the surgical laboratories at Johns Hopkins for 35 years. In 1976, Hopkins awarded him an honorary doctorate and named him an instructor of surgery for the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Robert Peary
Robert Edwin Peary Sr. (; May 6, 1856 – February 20, 1920) was an American explorer and officer in the United States Navy who made several expeditions to the Arctic in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. William Tillman
William Tillman ( 1834 – ?) was an American mariner known for his salvage of the ''S. J. Waring'' in July 1861. Early life and career William B. Tillman was born in Milford, Delaware, in around 1834. Although most black Delawareans of his time were born into slavery, Tillman belonged to a family of free blacks. Henry "Box" Brown
Henry Box Brown (c. 1815 – June 15, 1897) was a 19th-century Virginia slave who escaped to freedom at the age of 33 by arranging to have himself mailed in a wooden crate in 1849 to abolitionists in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For a short time, Brown became a noted abolitionist speaker in the northeast United States. As a public figure and fugitive slave, Brown felt extremely endangered by passage of the Fugitive Slave Law of 1850, which increased pressure to capture escaped slaves. He moved to England and lived there for 25 years, touring with an anti-slavery panorama, becoming a magician and showman. Brown married and started a family with an English woman, Jane Floyd. Mae Jemison
Mae Carol Jemison (born October 17, 1956) is an American engineer, physician, and former NASA astronaut. She became the first black woman to travel into space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle ''Endeavour''.
