Kerstin Brandt
Kerstin Brandt, née Dedner (born 9 December 1961 in Wismar, Bezirk Rostock) is a retired East German high jumper. She won the 1979 European Junior Championships, finished fourth at the 1982 European Indoor Championships and fifth at the inaugural 1983 World Championships. She represented the sports club SC Empor Rostock, and won bronze medals at the East German championships in 1979, 1987 and 1988. Wismar (; Low German: ''Wismer''), officially the Hanseatic City of Wismar (''Hansestadt Wismar'') is, with around 43,000 inhabitants, the sixth-largest city of the northeastern German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the fourth-largest city of Mecklenburg after Rostock, Schwerin and Neubrandenburg. The city was the third-largest port city in former East Germany after Rostock and Stralsund. The Bezirk Rostock was a district (''Bezirk'') of East Germany. The administrative seat and the main town was Rostock. History The district was established, with the other 13, on 25 July 1952, substituting the old German states. After 3 October 1990 it was dissolved following German reunification, becoming again part of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. High Jump
The high jump is a track and field event in which competitors must jump unaided over a horizontal bar placed at measured heights without dislodging it. In its modern, most-practiced format, a bar is placed between two standards with a crash mat for landing. Since ancient times, competitors have introduced increasingly effective techniques to arrive at the current form, and the current universally preferred method is the Fosbury Flop, in which athletes run towards the bar and leap head first with their back to the bar. The discipline is, alongside the pole vault, one of two vertical clearance events in the Olympic athletics program. It is contested at the World Championships in Athletics and the World Athletics Indoor Championships, and is a common occurrence at track and field meets. FC Hansa Rostock () is a German association football club based in the city of Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The club is also called as "the cog" because of its club crest.
