Kerryn Tolhurst
Kerryn William Tolhurst (born 1948) is an Australian country rock musician, songwriter and producer. He was based in the United States from late 1970s to the late 1990s, although he periodically returned to Australia. He was a founder of the Australian group, the Dingoes (1973–1979, 2009–present) and co-wrote their top 40 hit single, " Way Out West" (October 1973). It was covered by fellow Australians, James Blundell and James Reyne in 1991, which reached No. 2 on the ARIA Singles Chart. He also formed a short-lived group, Rattling Sabres, and wrote their single, " All Fired Up" (1987). The track was reworked by Pat Benatar (and Myron Grombacher) and released as her single in June 1988, which peaked at No. 2 in Australia and reached the top 20 in the United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand. Williamstown Chronicle
The ''Williamstown Chronicle'' was a weekly newspaper published in Williamstown, Victoria, a suburb of Melbourne. Publication began in May 1854, trading under the name ''Williamstown Trade Circular''. In September 1856, the name was changed to the ''Williamstown Chronicle'', which lasted until the paper was absorbed by the ''Williamstown Advertiser'' in 1964. The ''Williamstown Chronicle'' was the first newspaper for the area and the third suburban newspaper to exist in Australia. It was started by John Bennett Stephens, who produced the paper in his office in Ann Street and distributed it for free. The paper lost currency in 1874, which led to John. B. Carson (band)
Carson was an Australian blues rock and boogie rock band, which formed in January 1970 in Melbourne as Carson County Band. They had a top 30 hit single on the ''Go-Set'' National Top 40 with "Boogie" in September 1972. The group released their debut studio album, ''Blown'', in November on EMI and Harvest Records, which peaked at No. 14 on the ''Go-Set'' Top 20 Albums. Their performance at the second Sunbury Pop Festival in late January 1973 was issued as a live album, ''On the Air'', in April but the group had already disbanded. Johnny Chester
John Howard Chester (born 26 December 1941) is an Australian singer-songwriter, who started his career in October 1959 with group The Jaywoods singing rock music and in 1969 changed to country music. He toured nationally with the Beatles, Roy Orbison, the Everly Brothers, Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette and Charley Pride. During his career he has led various groups including Johnny Chester and The Chessmen, Johnny Chester and Jigsaw, Johnny Chester and Hotspur. Keith Glass
Keith Robert Glass (born 17 September 1946) is an Australian country music singer-songwriter, guitarist, musical theatre actor, record label owner, producer and journalist. In April 1967 he formed a soul music group, Cam-Pact, which released four singles and an extended play, ''Something Easy''. He left by June 1969 to appear in the Australian stage production of '' Hair'' as Berger (replaced by Reg Livermore in 1970). Cam-Pact
Cam-Pact was an Australian soul and psychedelic pop band which formed in April 1967. Originally they performed as The Camp Act but soon changed to Cam-Pact (or CamPact). Although little known outside Melbourne at the time, the various lineups of the group featured a number of young Melbourne musicians who went on to become significant figures on the Australian music scene, including Ray Arnott, Keith Glass, Chris Löfvén, Russell Smith, Robert Lloyd, and Chris Stockley. Ian McFarlane (born 1959) is an Australian music journalist, music historian and author, whose best known publication is the '' Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop'' (1999), which was updated for a second edition in 2017. As a journalist he started in 1984 with '' Juke'', a rock music newspaper. During the early 1990s he worked for Roadrunner Records while he published a music guide, ''The Australian New Music Record Guide Volume 1: 1976–1980'' (1992). He followed with two fanzines, ''Freedom Train'' and ''Prehistoric Sounds'', both issued during 1994 to 1996. Conscription in Australia, also called mandatory military service or National Service, has a controversial history dating back to the first years of nationhood. Broderick Smith
Broderick Smith (born 17 February 1948) is an English-born Australian multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and sometime actor. He was a member of 1970s bands Sundown, Carson and the Dingoes, 1980s Broderick Smith's Big Combo and he has recorded and performed solo and in duos. He acted on stage in the 1973 Australian version of the rock opera, ''Tommy'', and in minor roles in 1990s TV series, ''Blue Heelers'', '' Snowy River: The McGregor Saga'' and '' State Coroner''. Smith has been involved with the writing of some 200 songs and has run workshops on song writing, harmonica and vocals.
