Daniel Kerr (politician)
Daniel Kerr (June 18, 1836 – October 8, 1916) was an American politician who served as a two-term Republican U.S. representative from Iowa's 5th congressional district in the 1880s. Early life and education Born near Dalry, Ayrshire, Scotland, Kerr emigrated to the United States with his parents, Hugh Kerr and Margaret Galt, settling in Madison County, Illinois, in 1841. He attended the common schools. Kerr graduated from McKendree College in 1858. Career After studying law, he was admitted to the bar in 1862 and commenced practice in Edwardsville, Illinois. He enlisted in the Union Army on August 12, 1862. He was promoted to second lieutenant, Company G, 117th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment, in 1863 and to first lieutenant in 1864. Daniel Kerr
Daniel Alan Kerr (born 16 May 1983) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He played 220 games for the club between 2001 and 2013, as a hard-running inside midfielder. Kerr was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia. His father Roger also played professional football, while his sister Samantha plays professional soccer. Kerr was recruited to West Coast with the 18th pick in the 2000 National Draft. He finished runner-up in the 2001 AFL Rising Star, and in 2003, aged 20, won the Goal of the Year award. She has 20 wins on the LPGA Tour, including two major championships, and over $19 million in career earnings. He was the first chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley, and twelfth president of the University of California. Ben Kerr (1930 – June 17, 2005) was a Canadians, Canadian author, broadcaster, musician and perennial candidate, who was most famous as one of Toronto, Ontario's quirky street performers. Background Kerr was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and spent fifteen years in the Royal Canadian Air Force before settling in Toronto. In the 1960s, Kerr frequently played guitar in folk music, folk clubs in Toronto's Yorkville, Toronto, Yorkville district working alongside groups such as Steppenwolf (band), Steppenwolf, the Mynah Birds, Rick James, Gordon Lightfoot and Joni Mitchell, and wrote songs for the then unknown Neil Young. In 1969, he had a life changing experience when he gave up his three pack a day smoking habit and started taking a daily cayenne pepper cocktail. Beatrice Maude Williams (née Kerr; 30 November 1887 – 3 August 1971), known professionally as Beatrice Kerr, was an Australian swimmer, diver, and aquatic performer. Born in Melbourne, Kerr learnt to swim at Albert Park Lake, and won medals at both the Victorian and Australasian championships in 1905, at the age of 17. Early the following year, she toured South Australia and Western Australia, winning every race she entered. From there, Kerr went to England, giving swimming exhibitions in Bradford, Liverpool, London, and Manchester, being billed as "Australia's Champion Lady Swimmer and Diver". She returned to Australia in October 1911, living the rest of her life in Sydney, New South Wales.
