Keravnos B.C. (Greek: Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος Στροβόλου «Ο Κεραυνός»), also known as Keravnos Strovolou, is a professional basketball club based in Strovolos, Nicosia, Cyprus. It plays its home games in the Costas Papaellinas Arena, which has a capacity of 2,000 spectators. The club’s president since 1996 is businessman Paris C. Papaellinas, who has also been the main sponsor of the club for the last 20 years. History The men's basketball department of Keravnos was established in 1964. The club was one of the founding members of the Cyprus Basketball Federation in 1966 and won its first national league in 1989. Keravnos competed for 18 consecutive years in European competitions from 1995 to 2013. Cyprus Basketball Division A
The Cypriot Basketball Division A is currently the top-tier level men's professional basketball competition of the Cypriot basketball league system. It is run and governed by the Cyprus Basketball Federation. Format At present, six clubs compete in the league. Since the 2016–17 season, the six teams play each other four times during the regular season, with the top 4 teams reaching the play-off semi-finals stage. One team (the last one) at the end of the season is relegated to the second division, whilst one team from the second division is promoted. The play-off semi-finals and the championship winner will be decided after three wins. The championship winner, along with the winners of the Cypriot Cup, will qualify to compete in the next season's FIBA's European-wide continental competitions. The 2018–19 Cyprus Basketball Division A is the 52nd season of the Cyprus Basketball Division A, the top-tier level men's professional basketball league on Cyprus. It started on 13 October 2018. Competition format Eight teams joined the regular season, where after a three-legs round-robin tournament, the four first qualified would join the playoffs for the title. AEL and Omonia promoted from Division 2 while APOP was relegated. The 2016–17 Cyprus Basketball Division A was the 50th season of the Cyprus Basketball Division A, the top-tier level men's professional basketball league on Cyprus. The season started on 29 October 2016, and ended in May 2017. AEK Larnaca was the defending champion, and lost the title to Keravnos in the finals. Mike King (basketball)
Michael Antonio King (born March 26, 1978) is an American former professional basketball player. College career King played collegiate for The George Washington University. He attended Lake Clifton High School in Baltimore, Maryland, where he won a Maryland 4A state championship as a sophomore. He then had Lake Clifton High School ranked 11th in the nation as a senior. He was a High School All-American Honorable Mention. As a 6' 4" combo guard, King was named to the Atlantic 10 All Rookie Team in 1998. He also scored over 1,000 points at George Washington University and is 4th all time in steals. He helped the team to a number of NCAA tournaments and Atlantic 10 championships. Cedric Earl Henderson (born March 11, 1975) is an American former professional basketball player who played five seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Career A 6'7" small forward, Henderson starred at the University of Memphis, and was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round (45th pick overall) of the 1997 NBA draft. He played four seasons ( 1997/98– 2000/01) for the Cavaliers before being traded to the Golden State Warriors, with whom he played in 2001/02. Before the 2002–03 NBA season he was signed as a free agent by the Milwaukee Bucks, but he was waived after one month. Guy Pnini (Hebrew: גיא פניני) (born September 4, 1983) is an Israeli professional basketball player who currently plays for Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv of the Israeli Premier League and the EuroLeague. Gymnasticos Syllogos Iraklis ( el, Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος Ηρακλής, en, Gymnastics Club Heracles), commonly referred to as Iraklis, is a Greek multi-sports club based in Thessaloniki. The Basketball Champions League (BCL) is an annual professional basketball competition for European clubs, organised by FIBA. It is the top-level competition organised by FIBA Europe, therefore the champion participates in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.
