Keramoti ( el, Κεραμωτή) is a mountain village in the northeastern part of the island of Naxos in the Cyclades, Greece. Keramoti is part of the municipal unit of Drymalia. It is situated 2 km southwest of Koronos and 12 km east of Naxos town. South Aegean
The South Aegean ( el, Περιφέρεια Νοτίου Αιγαίου, translit=Periféria Notíou Eyéou, ) is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece. It consists of the Cyclades and Dodecanese island groups in the central and southeastern Aegean Sea. Administration The South Aegean region was established in the 1987 administrative reform. With the 2010 Kallikratis plan, its powers and authority were redefined and extended. Naxos ( el, Περιφερειακή ενότητα Νάξου) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of South Aegean. The regional unit covers the islands of Naxos, Amorgos, Donousa, Irakleia, Schoinoussa, the Koufonisia islands and several smaller islands in the Aegean Sea. Drymalia
Drymalia ( el, Δρυμαλία) is a former municipality on the island of Naxos, in the Cyclades, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Naxos and Lesser Cyclades, of which it is a municipal unit. With a land area of , it comprises about 70 percent of the island, in the eastern, northern, and southern parts. Its population was 5,244 at the 2011 census. The seat of the municipality was in Chalkeio (pop. 408), located at the center of the island. The largest town is Filoti, with a population of 1,477 inhabitants. Naxos (island)
Naxos (; el, Νάξος, ) is a Greek island and the largest of the Cyclades. It was the centre of archaic Cycladic culture. The island is famous as a source of emery, a rock rich in corundum, which until modern times was one of the best abrasives available. The largest town and capital of the island is Chora or Naxos City, with 7,374 inhabitants (2011 census). The main villages are Filoti, Apiranthos, Vivlos, Agios Arsenios, Koronos and Glynado. Geography Climate Naxos experiences a Mediterranean climate, with relatively mild winters and warm summers. The Köppen Climate Classification subtype for this climate is "Csa". Koronos (Greek:(η) Κόρωνος) is one of the mountain villages on the Greek island of Naxos in the Cyclades group of islands. Apeiranthos
Apeiranthos or Aperathos ( or ; local dialect: , ) is a mountainous village on the island of Naxos in Greece. It is located north-east of the capital of the island, built on the foothill of mountain Fanari, on an altitude between 570 and 640 m. The similarities of the local dialect and traditions to those of mountainous Cretan villages has led some historians to the conclusion that Apeiranthos was built by Cretans during the 10th century. The first historical evidence regarding the existence of the village goes back to 1420, on a reference by the Italian traveler Cristoforo Buondelmonti on his book ''Liber insularum archipelagi'' (''The Book of the Islands of the Archipelago''). Emery (mineral)
Emery, or corundite, is a dark granular rock used to make abrasive powder. It largely consists of corundum (aluminium oxide), mixed with other minerals such as the iron-bearing spinels, hercynite, and magnetite, and also rutile (Titanium dioxide, titania). Industrial emery may contain a variety of other minerals and synthetic compounds such as Magnesia (mineral), magnesia, mullite, and silica. It is black or dark grey in colour, less dense than translucent-brown corundum with a specific gravity of between 3.5 and 3.8.
