Kephren
IAM (pronounced "I am") is a French hip hop group from Marseille. Formed in 1989, it comprises Akhenaton (AKH; Philippe Fragione), Shurik'n (Geoffroy Mussard), Khéops (Éric Mazel), Imhotep (Pascal Perez) and Kephren (François Mendy). IAM has several meanings, including ''Invasion Arrivée de Mars'' ("Invasion from Mars"; Mars is frequently used as a metaphor for Marseille in IAM songs). Akhenaton (rapper)
Philippe Fragione (; born 17 September 1968), better known by his stage name Akhenaton, is a French rapper and hip hop producer. He has also worked under the aliases Chill, AKH, Sentenza and Spectre. He is best known as member of hip hop group IAM and has since made a number of records, both with IAM and as a solo artist. Akhenaton has worked as a producer, producing songs for several French rappers and groups such as Passi, Stomy Bugsy, Fonky Family, Freeman (a fellow member of IAM who has since made his break as a solo artist), La Brigade, Le 3ème Œil, etc. He is the creator of the record label Côté Obscur, the publishing house La Cosca and the vinyl record label 361. Imhotep (musician)
Pascal Perez (born in Algiers on 19 May 1960), better known by his stage name Imhotep, is an Algerian-French DJ and music producer. In addition to his solo work including albums ''Blue Print'' and ''Kheper'' and producing of other artists, he was one of the founding members of the Marseille rap group IAM and its sound architect. Career Pascal Perez after getting his graduate diploma worked as a school teacher for 4 years. But greatly influenced by music, having affinity to a number of versatile musical genres from the start, he played in a number of formations with blues, rock, reggae and funk influences. He also made the night circuits with electronic music and became a pioneer of beat-making in France. Freeman (rapper)
Malek Brahimi (also known as Abdelmalek Sultan), better known by his stage name Freeman, is a French hip hop artist and breakdancer. He was a member of the successful hip hop group IAM together with Akhenaton, Shurik'n, Khéops, Imhotep, and Kephren. He has also worked as a solo artist and an actor. Freeman lives in Marseille, but says that he is above all an Internationalist. Brahimi was born in Algiers, Algeria on 9 May 1972, and has lived most of his life in the district of Belsunce, in Marseille. At first, when IAM was formed in 1988, Brahimi worked with them as a breakdancer under the alias Abdelmalek Sultan, but he soon started rapping and appearing on the group's albums.
