Hampstead Heath
Hampstead Heath (locally known simply as the Heath) is an ancient heath in London, spanning . This grassy public space sits astride a sandy ridge, one of the highest points in London, running from Hampstead to Highgate, which rests on a band of London Clay. The heath is rambling and hilly, embracing ponds, recent and ancient woodlands, a lido, playgrounds, and a training track, and it adjoins the former stately home of Kenwood House and its estate. The south-east part of the heath is Parliament Hill, from which the view over London is protected by law. Running along its eastern perimeter is a chain of ponds – including three open-air public swimming pools – which were originally reservoirs for drinking water from the River Fleet. Kenwood is a neighborhood within the Calhoun-Isles community in Minneapolis along Lake of the Isles. The neighborhood is one of the most affluent in the city along with the nearby Lowry Hill neighborhood. Kenwood Academy (also known as Kenwood Academy High School and formerly known as Kenwood High School) is a comprehensive public high school and magnet middle school located in the Hyde Park– Kenwood neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Kenwood, also known as the John A. Sheppard House, is a historic home located at Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia. It was designed by the prominent West Virginia architect, H. Rus Warne, and built about 1910, and is a -story, rectangular, side gable house with flanking one-story, enclosed wings with flat roofs covered in green clay tile. The house measures approximately 100 feet long and 64 feet deep. It features an entrance portico with two story Tuscan order columns. Kenwood is a historic 18th century property at 7437 Kenwood Lane in Gloucester, Virginia. The centerpiece of Kenwood is a three-story house, built in several stages of wood framing and brick. The oldest portion of the house is a Federal style wood frame section set on a brick foundation, with later Italianate brick and frame additions. The property also includes a period 19th century smokehouse and cook's quarters, along with other 20th century outbuildings. There is also remnants of a brick making facility at the far end of the property, near a tributary of Crany Creek. Kenwood Historic District (Enid, Oklahoma)
The Kenwood Historic District is located north west of downtown Enid, Oklahoma and is named for Kenwood Boulevard, a diagonal street created in 1894. The neighborhood encompasses of housing created between 1895 and 1915. Houses in the district were designed by A.A. Crowell and R.W. Shaw, and feature American Foursquare-styled homes. History N. E. Sisson and Maurice A. Wogan both laid claim to the land in the Land Run of 1893. Following a period of dispute, Sisson relinquished his claim, and the land became known as the Wogan Block. Kenwood was a hamlet in the Town of Bethlehem, New York. The hamlet spanned both sides of the Normans Kill near the area where the Normans Kill flows into the Hudson River. In 1870, and again in 1910, northern portions of Kenwood were annexed by the City of Albany, New York. History Kenwood, formerly known as Lower Hollow or Rensselaer's Mills, dates to the earliest Dutch settlement in the area now known as New York's Capital District. In 1618, the Dutch built a fort along a creek that the native inhabitants called ''Tawasentha.'' This fort replaced a 1614 fort on Castle Island that had been lost due to an annual freshet that occurred along the Hudson River. In 1637, Albert Bradt built a mill there. From Norway, Bradt was nicknamed "the Norman", and the Tawasentha was renamed Normans Kill after him.
