The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is Kentucky's state-funded agency charged with building and maintaining federal highways and Kentucky state highways, as well as regulating other transportation related issues. The Transportation Cabinet is led by the Kentucky Secretary of Transportation, who is appointed by the governor of Kentucky. Gratz is a home rule-class city in Owen County, Kentucky, in the United States. The population was 89 at the 2000 census. The population in 2010 was 78. History The present city was laid out in 1847 on land supposedly owned by the heirs of Sen. John Brown and was probably named for his grandson B. Gratz Brown, who later became a senator from and governor of Missouri and made a failed vice-presidential bid in 1872 with Horace Greeley of the Liberal Republicans. Kentucky Route 227 (KY 227) is a state highway in Kentucky that runs from U.S. Route 460 (US 460) near Georgetown, Kentucky to US 42 and KY 36 in Carrollton, Kentucky. Route description KY 227 starts north in Scott County and goes through Stamping Ground before entering Owen County. Just southeast of Owenton, KY 227 meets KY 22 and joins it on its way to Owenton. Perry Park is an unincorporated community, country club and golf resort in Owen County, Kentucky, near Owenton and Carrollton. It is located one hour southwest of Cincinnati, one hour northwest of Lexington, and forty-five minutes east of Louisville, and lies on the Kentucky River. The ZIP Code for Perry Park is 40363. History The land that is now Perry Park was originally used as hunting grounds by Native Americans, particularly the Iroquois. Kentucky Route 22 (KY 22) is a east–west highway running from the eastern suburbs of Louisville to an unincorporated place called Willow in Bracken County in Northern Kentucky.
