Kensington (band)
Kensington is a Dutch rock band from Utrecht that was formed in 2005. The band has since released two EPs and five studio albums: ''Borders'' (2010), ''Vultures'' (2012), ''Rivals'' (2014), ''Control'' (2016) and ''Time'' (2019). The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Eloi Youssef, guitarist/vocalist Casper Starreveld, bassist Jan Haker and drummer Niles Vandenberg. Biography Early years (2005–2008) Kensington was formed in 2005 at a secondary school in Zeist, Jordan MLU, by singer/guitarist Casper Starreveld, bass player Jan Haker and drummer Lucas Lenselink. Singer/guitarist Eloi Youssef joined the band in 2006. Kensington's first official releases appeared in 2007 on Stuck in a Day Records: the two-song promo single ''An Introduction To...'' and the five-song ''Kensington EP''. Nicholas is a male given name and a surname. Kink FM
Kink FM was a commercial radio channel in e Netherlands dedicated entirely to alternative music. In 1992 Dutch radio station RTL Radio started broadcasting. After this station failed to be a success, its format and name was first changed to RTL Rockradio, then to Happy RTL and back to RTL Rockradio. In 1995, the name was changed to Kink FM and the ownership split 50-50 between RTL and Veronica. In 1996, RTL gave up on the cable station and sold its remaining rights to Veronica which is still the owner. From the start Kink FM had to fight for its existence. Kink FM was available in the Netherlands by cable, in Europe by satellite and in the rest of the world through the internet. It was also on iTunes's list of radio streams and via an iPhone app. In October 2005 Kink FM celebrated its tenth anniversary. Scouting For Girls
Scouting for Girls are an English pop rock band. Their name is a play on the title of the 1908 Scouting handbook ''Scouting for Boys''. The band was formed in 2005 by three childhood friends from London, Roy Stride on piano and lead guitar/vocals, Greg Churchouse on bass guitar and Peter Ellard on Drums. They signed to Epic Records in 2007 and released their self-titled debut album that September and it reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart in 2008. To date, it has sold over 1,000,000 copies in the UK. Scouting for Girls worked on a second album, ''Everybody Wants to Be on TV'', was released in April 2010 and peaked at number 2 on the Albums Chart. Tivoli is a popular music venue and cultural center in Utrecht, Netherlands. Tivoli is run by a non-profit organisation. The original organisation dates back to 1823 and functioned as a relaxing place outside the city's Stadsbuitengracht. Tivoli has two locations: TivoliVredenburg and Tivoli De Helling 7. Tivoli was originally located at Lepelenburg until the venue burnt down in 1979. A new venue opened at Oudegracht 245, which is approximately a 20 minute walk from De Helling. In 2014 Tivoli Oudegracht and Muziekcentrum Vredenburg joined forces in the new TivoliVredenburg, and Tivoli De Helling continued as an independent music venue. Paradiso is a Dutch music venue and cultural centre located in Amsterdam. History It is housed in a converted former church building that dates from the nineteenth century and that was used until 1965 as the meeting hall for a liberal Dutch religious group known as the "Vrije Gemeente" (Free Congregation). It is located on ''de Weteringschans'', near the ''Leidseplein'', one of the nightlife and tourism centers of the city. The main concert hall in the former church interior has high ceilings and two balcony rings overlooking the stage area, with three large illuminated church windows above the stage. Eurosonic Noorderslag is an annual four-day music showcase festival and conference held in January in Groningen, Netherlands. The first three days of the festival (Eurosonic) feature artists from all over Europe, the last day of the festival (Noorderslag) features only Dutch artists. The conference is held during all four days of the event.
