Kenneth Daniel
Kenneth Roy Daniel (31 August 1892 – 23 September 1965) was a Progressive Conservative party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Ingersoll, Ontario, and became a farmer by career. Daniel attended school at Ingersoll Collegiate Institute and Woodstock Business College. He was a town councillor for Ingersoll from 1940 to 1942, then the community's mayor in 1943 and 1944. Ingersoll, Ontario
Ingersoll is a town in Oxford County on the Thames River in southwestern Ontario, Canada. The nearest cities are Woodstock to the east and London to the west. Ingersoll is situated north of and along Highway 401. Oxford County Road 119 (formerly Ontario Highway 19) runs north diagonally through the town. A Canadian National rail line bisects the town east to west through its centre. Passenger service from the Ingersoll train station is provided to other stops in Southwestern Ontario by Via Rail. To the south is a CPR line, with spurs into local industries, which provides freight service to points in the region. The local high school is Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute. Oxford is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since the 1935 election. It consists of the County of Oxford and a small portion of the County of Brant. History It was created in 1933 when the ridings of Oxford North and Oxford South were merged. 1949 Canadian Federal Election
The 1949 Canadian federal election was held June 27, 1949 to elect members of the House of Commons of Canada of the 21st Parliament of Canada. The Liberal Party of Canada was re-elected with its fourth consecutive government, winning 191 seats (73 percent of the seats in the House of Commons), with just under 50 percent of the popular vote. It was the Liberals' first election in almost thirty years not under the leadership William Lyon Mackenzie King. King had retired in 1948, and was replaced as Liberal leader and Prime Minister by Louis St. Laurent.
