Ken Kinsley
Kenneth Kinsley is a Canadian retired ice hockey goaltender who was the MOP of the 1952 NCAA Tournament for Colorado College. Career Kinsley began attending Colorado College a year after the program won its first National Championship and became the team's starting goaltender in his sophomore season. With many seniors on the squad being holdovers from the title team, Kinsley produced a tremendous season, helping CC win the inaugural MCHL championship with a record of 18–4–1. He was named to both the All- MCHL First Team and was an AHCA Second Team All-American for his efforts. Unfortunately, because Colorado College didn't keep goaltending records at the time, none of his individual statistics are precisely known. Kinsley backstopped CC to their fifth consecutive championship appearance, but in the semifinal it looked as if the moment might be too much for the young goaltender. Yale Bulldogs Men's Ice Hockey
The Yale Bulldogs men's ice hockey team represents Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut and is the oldest collegiate ice hockey team in the United States. The Bulldogs compete in the Ivy League and the ECAC Hockey League (ECACHL) and play their home games at Ingalls Rink, also called the Yale Whale. John Matchefts
John Peter Matchefts (June 18, 1931 – November 10, 2013) was an American ice hockey player and coach. Matchefts played for Team USA at the 1956 Winter Olympics. Career Player An Eveleth native from birth, Matchefts played for his hometown high school ice hockey team, earning three consecutive all-tournament team honors in his time there and helping Eveleth High School win state titles in his junior and senior years. Matchefts then moved on to Michigan, signing up to play for the national powerhouse under the charge of Vic Heyliger. After sitting out his freshman season (a normal occurrence at the time) Matchefts joined the varsity team just in time for them to win the school's second national title in 1951. 1952 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament
The 1952 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament was the culmination of the 1951–52 NCAA men's ice hockey season, the 5th such tournament in NCAA history. It was held between March 13 and 15, 1952, and concluded with Michigan defeating Colorado College 4-1. All games were played at the Broadmoor Ice Palace in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This was the first tournament to include teams that played in a conference. The MCHL had been created before the start of the season and through both of the conference representatives had appeared in the tournament previously both were independent. The Tri-State League also sent its first representative to the tournament after the conference began play the year before. NCAA All-Tournament team is an honor bestowed at the conclusion of the NCAA Division I ice hockey tournament to the players judged to have performed the best during the championship. The team is currently composed of three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender with additional players named in the event of a tie. Voting for the honor was conducted by the head coaches of each member team once the tournament has completed and any player regardless of their team's finish is eligible. The All-Tournament Team began being awarded after the first championship in 1948 along with an All-Tournament Second-Team.
