Ken Griffiths (photographer)
Kenneth James Griffiths (7 June 1945 – 20 August 2014) was a New Zealand born photographer, best remembered for his advertising and photojournalism from the 1970s onwards. Early life Griffiths was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, the eldest of five brothers. His father, Edward Rae Griffiths, was a manufacturer of leather goods from South Wales, and his mother, Gwladys Winson Griffiths, a teacher from Cornwall. In 1969, at the age of 23, Ken travelled from New Zealand and began studying photography at the Royal College of Art (RCA), where he was taught by professors John Hedgecoe and Michael Langford. In 1971, while at the RCA, Griffiths was named the ''Daily Telegraph Magazines "Young Photographer of the Year", an award which subsequently earned him a job at the ''Sunday Times Magazine''. Smirnoff (; ) is a brand of vodka owned and produced by the British company Diageo. The Smirnoff brand began with a vodka distillery founded in Moscow by Pyotr Arsenievich Smirnov (1831–1898). Sting (musician)
Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner (born 2 October 1951), known as Sting, is an English musician and actor. He was the frontman, songwriter and bassist for new wave rock band The Police from 1977 until their breakup in 1986. He launched a solo career in 1985 and has included elements of rock, jazz, reggae, classical, new-age, and worldbeat in his music. John Lee Hooker
John Lee Hooker (August 22, 1912 or 1917 – June 21, 2001) was an American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist. The son of a sharecropper, he rose to prominence performing an electric guitar-style adaptation of Delta blues. Hooker often incorporated other elements, including talking blues and early North Mississippi hill country blues. He developed his own driving-rhythm boogie style, distinct from the 1930s–1940s piano-derived boogie-woogie. Hooker was ranked 35 in ''Rolling Stone''s 2015 list of 100 greatest guitarists. Dewi Lewis (born 10 March 1951) is a Welsh publisher and curator of photography. Career In 1975, Lewis was the founding director of the Bury Metropolitan Arts Association which operates the Met. Lewis also founded and was the first director of Cornerhouse, an arts centre in Manchester, England. Lewis was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society in 2004 and was awarded the Society’s inaugural RPS Award for Outstanding Service to Photography in 2009. In 2012, the Kraszna-Krausz Foundation presented him with an award for Outstanding Contribution to Photography Publishing. Guess (styled as GUESS or Guess?) is an American clothing brand and retailer, notable for its black-and-white advertisements. Guess licenses its brand on other fashion accessories, such as watches, jewelry, perfumes, bags and shoes. Clarendon, Texas
Clarendon is a city in Donley County, Texas, United States. Its population was 2,026 at the 2010 census. The county seat of Donley County, Clarendon is located on U.S. Highway 287 in the Texas Panhandle, east of Amarillo. History Clarendon, established in 1878, was one of the three original Panhandle settlements, the other two being Mobeetie and Tascosa. Clarendon was relocated after its original location was bypassed by the Fort Worth and Denver Railway. The town founder was a Methodist clergyman, L.H. Carhart, who envisioned a "sobriety settlement" in contrast to typical boomtowns of that era. ''Christ the Redeemer'' ( pt, Cristo Redentor, standard , ) is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, created by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, in collaboration with French engineer Albert Caquot. Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Leonida sculpted the face. Constructed between 1922 and 1931, the statue is high, excluding its pedestal. The arms stretch wide. It is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone.
