Ken Bennett (Australian Rules Footballer)
Kenneth Raymond Bennett (14 February 1940 – 1 September 2023) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Bennett, originally from Dandenong, was just 17 years old when he debuted midway through the 1957 season. Although primarily a wingman he was also used up forward and was a member of Collingwood's 1958 VFL Grand Final premiership team. Bennett kicked two goals and featured in their best players in Collingwood's 1958 premiership. In 1963, Bennett (Albury) won the 1963 Ovens & Murray Football League best and fairest award, the Morris Medal, with 17 votes, from John Perry (Wodonga) and Graeme Leydin (Wangaratta Rovers), both on 16 votes. Dandenong Football Club
Dandenong Football Club was an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). Based in the Melbourne suburb of Dandenong, the Redlegs wore navy blue and red as their club colours. Club history From 1953 to 1957 the club played in the Federal Football League. Success was immediate by winning the 1953 flag. Near success continued by being runner-up in 1954 and 1955, a third in 1956 and fifth in 1957. In all 72 wins compared to 25 losses and a draw. Graeme Leydin
Graham William Leydin (born 21 March 1940) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Nicknamed Yabbie, Leydin won a best and fairest at the Essendon Under-19s in 1958. He played mostly as a rover or at half forward and arrived at Essendon from Moonee Valley. Murray Weideman
Murray Weideman (16 February 1936 – 17 February 2021) was an Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL). He died one day after his 85th birthday. Personal life The son of George Oliver and Hazel Howard Weideman (née Start), and the younger brother of pharmacist/parliamentarian Graeme Weideman, George "Graeme" Weideman, he was born on 16 February 1936. He died on 18 February 2021. Weideman's son Mark Weideman also played for West Adelaide (SANFL) and Collingwood; and his grandson, Sam Weideman, plays for Essendon Football Club, Essendon. The Wangaratta Rovers, officially known as the Wangaratta Rovers Football & Netball Club, is an Australian rules football club based in Wangaratta, Victoria and play in the Ovens & Murray Football League. Ovens & Murray Football League
The Ovens and Murray Football Netball League (O&MFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball competition containing ten clubs based in north-eastern Victoria, the southern Riverina region of New South Wales and the Ovens and Murray area. The name comes from the Ovens River, the river in the part of north-eastern Victoria covered by the league, and the Murray River, which separates Victoria and New South Wales. The league features three grades in the Australian rules football competition, with these being First-Grade, Reserve-Grade and Under 18s. In the netball competition, there are four grades, with these being A-Grade, B-Grade, C-Grade and Under 16s. Currently a home and away season consisting of eighteen rounds is played.
