Keith Batchelor
Keith Vincent Batchelor (4 October 1930 – 24 September 2009) was a former Australian rules footballer, who played in the Victorian Football League (1897–1989), Victorian Football League (VFL) for Collingwood Football Club, Collingwood and in the 1950s. He made his senior debut in the 1952 VFL Grand Final. Family The son of Collingwood footballer Vin Batchelor, Vincent George Batchelor (1900-1981), and Mary Alice Batchelor (1902-1970), née Wescott, Keith Vincent Batchelor was born in Melbourne on 4 October 1930. 1953 VFL Grand Final
The 1953 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Geelong Football Club and Collingwood Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 26 September 1953. It was the 56th annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1953 VFL season. The match, attended by 89,149 spectators, was won by Collingwood by 12 points, the club's 12th premiership victory. Camberwell Magpies Cricket Club is an Australian cricket team competing in the Victorian Premier Cricket competition. The club formed in 1996 from an amalgamation of Collingwood Cricket Club, a foundation member of Victorian Premier Cricket in 1905, and Camberwell Cricket Club, a Victorian Sub-District Association team formed in 1864. 1957 VFL Season
The 1957 VFL season was the 61st season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 20 April until 21 September, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Melbourne Football Club for the ninth time and third time consecutively, after it defeated by 61 points in the 1957 VFL Grand Final. George Goninon
George Goninon (born 18 April 1927) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Tasmanian North West Football Union (NWFU) and Victorian Football League (VFL). Goninon was Geelong's champion goalkicker at full-forward in the 1951 and 1952 Grand Final wins, including kicking 11 goals in the 1951 Semi-Final, the equal-most goals scored in a VFL/AFL final, and the last player to get a double-digit goal tally in a final for 43 years (when Garry Lyon kicked 10 goals in a semi-final in 1994). He was going strong in 1953, with the Cats being hot favourites to make it three in a row. However, he was dropped from the team that would go on to lose the flag to Collingwood by two goals as a consequence of his marital infidelity.
