Keisen Station
is a railway station on the Chikuho Main Line and Sasaguri Line operated by JR Kyushu in Keisen, Kaho District, Fukuoka, Japan. History The privately run Chikuho Kogyo Railway had opened a track from to on 30 August 1891 and, after several phases of extension, the track had reached south to by 1893. On 1 October 1897, the Chikuho Kogyo Railway, now renamed the Chikuho Railway, merged with the Kyushu Railway. Kyushu Railway undertook the next phase of expansion by extending the track to Keisen, then named Nagao, and establishing it as the new southern terminus on 12 December 1901. After the Kyushu Railway was nationalized on 1 July 1907, Japanese Government Railways (JGR) took over control of the station. On 12 October 1909, the track to Iizuka was designated the Chikuho Main Line while the track from Iizuka to Nagao was designated the Nagao Line. Katsuragawa Station (Kyoto)
is a railway station located in Minami-ku, Kyoto, Japan, on the JR Kyoto Line operated by JR West. It opened on October 18, 2008. Katsuragawa is between Nishiōji and Mukōmachi Stations, west of the bridges over the Katsura River (''Katsuragawa'' in Japanese). The station on a four-track section has a single island platform between center two tracks. It serves trains 12 cars long. An overhead bridge provides access to the platform, as well as unrestricted passage from one side of the station to the other. Facilities include elevators, escalators, and multipurpose toilets. Hiragana
is a Japanese syllabary, part of the Japanese writing system, along with ''katakana'' as well as ''kanji''. It is a phonetic lettering system. The word ''hiragana'' literally means "flowing" or "simple" kana ("simple" originally as contrasted with kanji). Hiragana and katakana are both kana systems. With few exceptions, each mora in the Japanese language is represented by one character (or one digraph) in each system. Kanji
are the logographic Chinese characters taken from the Chinese family of scripts, Chinese script and used in the writing of Japanese language, Japanese. They were made a major part of the Japanese writing system during the time of Old Japanese and are still used, along with the subsequently-derived syllabic scripts of ''hiragana'' and ''katakana''. The characters have Japanese pronunciation, pronunciations; most have two, with one based on the Chinese sound. Kyushu Railway
was a company that built and operated railways in Kyushu, one of four main islands of Japan. Most of its lines came under the control of Japanese Government Railways following nationalization in 1907, and many are now operated by Kyushu Railway Company. History The company was incorporated on August 15, 1888 in Fukuoka, Fukuoka. The first of the railway, between Hakata Station in Fukuoka and Chitosegawa temporary station in Asahi, Saga (near Kurume, Fukuoka), opened on December 11, 1889 as the first railway in Kyushu. Keisen, Fukuoka
is a town located in Kaho District, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of April 30, 2017, the town has an estimated population of 13,750 and a density of 690 persons per km². The total area is 20.07 km². Keisen was home to Fukuoka POW Camp in 1944 during World War II. There are many Kofun in Keisen; Ōzuka Kofun, near Keisen Station, is designated as a site of special historic interest (one of only two of its kind in Japan), and has its own museum. Ozuka was built in the 6th century AD as a decorated mound tomb. It was rediscovered in 1934, and the artifacts found inside are now at Kyoto National Museum. It was closed to the public for preservation in 1967, but is now open twice a year. The museum has a full size reconstruction of the tomb with information in Japanese and English.
