Keiko Yamada (manga Artist)
is a Japanese manga artist, who has had all three of her serial manga picked up for English translation (although '' Limited Lovers'' remains untranslated). Her first piece, a one-shot, was about old-style talking demons. She is most known for her manga VS (manga), VS (also known as 'Versus'), which has been noted for its unusual premise, in that it centres on violinists. Yamada is also known for her distinctive drawing style which exaggerates elements of classic manga style. The watercolour-like quality of her coloured work has also been praised. Kitakyushu
is a Cities of Japan, city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of June 1, 2019, Kitakyushu has an estimated population of 940,978, making it the second-largest city in both Fukuoka Prefecture and the island of Kyushu after the city of Fukuoka. Limited Lovers
is a Japanese manga authored by Keiko Yamada, first published in 2004. The manga follows the life of a schoolgirl called Kakinomoto Karin, who loses the use of her legs following an accident, and subsequently falls in love with her attendant doctor, Okita Teppei. Each chapter is called a 'Step'. As of chapter 13, Karin and Okita have been forced to give up on their hospital due to personal attacks by the board of a competing hospital. The manga addresses the discrimination, low quality of life and lack of independence that people with disabilities experience. ''Limited Lovers'' was originally picked up to be licensed for release in English, along the lines of Yamada's first two series, but was subsequently dropped. is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Keiko Yamada. It was serialized in Akita Shoten's shōjo magazine (aimed at teenage girls) '' Princess Comics''. The individual chapters were released in 7 ''tankōbon'' volumes between June 1999 and December 24, 2001. The series is licensed in North America by CMX, which released the manga's 7 ''tankōbon'' volumes between April 1, 2006 and October 10, 2007. CMX (comics)
CMX was an imprint of DC Comics, a division of Warner Bros. Entertainment. It was DC's line of manga translations. CMX was known for its censored release of ''Tenjho Tenge'' and the print version of Fred Gallagher's ''Megatokyo'' web manga series. Controversy One of CMX's initial launches was a title variously known as ''Tenjo Tenge'', ''Tenjho Tenge'', and ''Ten Ten''. When CMX released ''Tenjho Tenge'', many fans were livid that title had been edited contentwise and changed graphically to appeal to a "larger demographic"—in other words, edited to be acceptable to bookstores without shrinkwrap.
