Kačice
Kačice is a municipality and village in Kladno District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,200 inhabitants. Etymology The surname of the first inhabitant of the village was probably Kačice and the village was named after him. The surname was derived from the feminine name Káča, Kačena (variation of the name Kateřina, Czech form of Catherine) or from of the Old Czech word ''kačice'' ('duck'). Geography Kačice is located about west of Kladno and northwest of Prague. It lies in the Džbán range. The highest point is at above sea level. The Loděnice River flows along the southwestern municipal border. History The first written mention of Kačice is from 1318. Until 1550, it was owned by various lower noblemen. In 1550–1551, both parts of Kačice were bought by the Martinic family and annexed to the Smečno estate. Rakovník
Rakovník (, german: Rakonitz) is a town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 15,000 inhabitants. The town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Administrative parts Rakovník is made up of two town parts, Rakovník I and Rakovník II. Etymology According to a legend, the name was derived from ''rak'' (meaning "crayfish"), which was eaten here during a famine. Therefore this animal was adopted on the town's coat of arms and flag. Karlovy Vary
Karlovy Vary (; german: Karlsbad, formerly also spelled ''Carlsbad'' in English) is a spa town, spa city in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 46,000 inhabitants. Smečno
Smečno () is a town in Kladno District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,000 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Etymology The name is derived from the Czech word ''smyk'', i.e. 'skid'. There was probably a dreaded steep road where there was a risk of slipping. Geography Smečno is located about northwest of Kladno and northwest of Prague. The eastern part of the municipal territory with the built-up area lies in the Prague Plateau, the western part lies in the Džbán range. The highest point is at above sea level. Martinic Family
The House of Martinic (also: ''Martinicové'', ''z Martinicz'' or ''von Martinitz'') was a Czech noble family from Bohemia, claimed to be descended from the old Vršovci clan. The family have been part of the Bohemian ancient nobility. As of 1322, the family possessed the castle Martinice near Votice in the southern part of Central Bohemia. Members include Jaroslav Bořita of Martinice, killed in the 1618 Defenestration of Prague.
