Kazakhstan Fed Cup Team
The Kazakhstan Billie Jean King Cup team represents Kazakhstan in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation. They currently compete in the Asia/Oceania Zone of Group I. History Kazakhstan competed in its first Fed Cup in 1995. Their best result was qualifying for the World Group II play-offs in 2013, 2017, and 2019, losing to France, Canada, and Great Britain. In 2020, Kazakhstan faced Belgium to earn opportunity to play in the World Group. Prior to 1993, Kazakh players represented the Soviet Union. Yaroslava Shvedova
Yaroslava Vyacheslavovna Shvedova (; born 12 September 1987) is a Kazakhstani former professional tennis player. Before 2008, she represented her country of birth, Russia. She won one singles title and 13 doubles titles on the WTA Tour, plus one singles and one doubles title on WTA 125 tournaments, as well as four singles and three doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. On 29 October 2012, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 25. On 22 February 2016, she peaked at No. 3 in the doubles rankings. Shvedova made three major singles quarterfinals: at the 2010, the 2012 French Open and the 2016 Wimbledon Championships. Elena Andreyevna Rybakina (born 17 June 1999) is a Kazakhstani professional tennis player. She is the reigning champion at Wimbledon and the first Kazakhstani player to win a title at a major. She is also the first to be ranked in the world's top 15, with a career-high ranking of No. 12 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), and the current Kazakhstani No. 1 player in women's singles. Anna Sergeyevna Danilina (russian: Анна Сергеевна Данилина; born 20 August 1995) is a Russian-born Kazakh tennis player. She has been ranked as high as No. 11 in doubles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). In singles, she reached a career-high ranking of 269. Danilina represented her nation of birth, Russia, until March 2011, when she switched allegiances to represent Kazakhstan. As a junior, she reached a combined world ranking of No. 3 in February 2013. Since turning professional, Danilina has won three WTA doubles titles. She has also won one singles title and 25 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Gozal Ainitdinova (russian: Гозаль Айнитдинова; born 22 August 1998) is a Kazakhstani tennis player. Ainitdinova has a career-high WTA singles ranking of 396, achieved on 23 April 2018. Zarina Diyas ( kk, Зари́на Ди́ас; born 18 October 1993) is a Kazakh professional tennis player. She has been ranked as high as No. 31 in the world by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Diyas has won one WTA singles title, at the 2017 Japan Women's Open, as well as nine singles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. Diyas mostly played on the ITF Circuit until 2014, her breakthrough season. During that year, she started outside the top 150, before progressing into the top 40 by September. This helped her enter tournaments on the WTA Tour more consistently, though she still plays ITF tournaments. 1995 Fed Cup
The 1995 Fed Cup was the 33rd edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis, and the first to bear the name Fed Cup. Major changes to the tournament's structure went into effect for 1995. The format was changed to a multi-tiered league system similar to the Davis Cup, and a Group II was added to the existing Group I at Zonal level. The World Group I was reduced to eight teams and the World Group II was added with another eight teams. Ties were played at home sites rather than all in one location as before. Play-offs determined promotion and relegation between World Group and World Group II and Zonal Group I. Two singles rubbers were added to the ties, which became the best of five matches.
