Kazakh Airmobile Forces
The Kazakh Air Assault Forces (; ) or the Airmobile Forces (; ) are the paratrooper branch of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It falls under the subordination of the Kazakh Ground Forces and is part of the Reserve of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. History The Airmobile Forces were formed by grouping the 35th Guards Air Assault Brigade with new brigades formed from previous Soviet units. The 35th Guards Air Assault Brigade arrived from Germany in April 1991, and was taken over by Kazakhstan in 1992 in accordance with the establishment of the Kazakh military in May of that year. Also inherited from the Soviet airborne was the 5204th Base for Storage of Weapons and Equipment near Karaganda (the remnants of a motor rifle division). Special Forces
Special forces and special operations forces (SOF) are military units trained to conduct special operations. NATO has defined special operations as "military activities conducted by specially designated, organized, selected, trained and equipped forces using unconventional techniques and modes of employment". Special forces emerged in the early 20th century, with a significant growth in the field during the Second World War, when "every major army involved in the fighting" created formations devoted to special operations behind enemy lines. 36th Air Assault Brigade (Kazakhstan)
The 36th Air Assault Brigade is an air assault brigade of the Kazakh Air Assault Forces. It is based in Astana. History In 2002, the brigade was formed in Astana from the 46th Special Purpose Detachment. At the time, it only consisted of the 260th Air Assault Battalion, an artillery battalion and reconnaissance units. From 2011, the brigade was commanded by Major General Almaz Dzhumakeev (appointed commander of Kazakh Airmobile Forces in 2015). It tested Russian-made Irkut-3 UAVs in early 2013. On 24 May 2013, it was inspected by OSCE experts in accordance with the Vienna Document. In April 2013, the brigade was equipped with Otokar Cobra armored fighting vehicles. Jarkent ( kz, Жаркент, ''Jarkent''), formerly known as ''Panfilov'' (russian: Панфилов, until 1991) and ''Dzharkent'' (russian: Джаркент, until 1942), is a city which serves as the administrative center of Panfilov District in the Almaty Region, Kazakhstan. Collective Rapid Reaction Force
The Collective Rapid Reaction Force (russian: link=no, Коллективные силы оперативного реагирования, КСОР; KSOR) is a joint combined arms task force comprising independent military units from the Collective Security Treaty Organization member states. CRRF was created in 2009 with the general purpose to counter a limited military aggression against CSTO member states, to fight against terrorism and drug trafficking. History The agreement on the creation of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force was signed by the presidents of all CSTO states except Belarus during a summit in Moscow on February 4, 2009. KAZBAT
KAZBAT refers to a peacekeeping military unit in the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan. It is an airmobile brigade of the Kazakh Air Assault Forces. History In 1995, the governments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan established the Central Asian Battalion (CENTRASBAT). It was dissolved in 1999, even though the last manoeuvre took place as initially planned in 2000. Afterwards, KAZBAT was established on 31 January 2000 by decree of President Nursultan Nazarbayev and is responsible for conducting peacekeeping operations and humanitarian missions in foreign countries on behalf of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2015, the Law "On Peacekeeping of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was adopted by the Parliament of Kazakhstan, defining the tasks and competencies of the state in regulating the participation of the country's peacekeeping operations around the world. Taldykorgan
Taldykorgan ( kk, Талдықорған/Taldyqorğan; russian: Талдыкорган), known as ''Taldy-Kurgan'' until 1993, is the capital (called an administrative center) of Zhetysu Region, Kazakhstan. According to the 2010 Kazakh Census Results, the population is 143,407. The town was founded in the 19th century as the village of Gavrilovka and developed into the present city on the same site. The town grew slowly in its early years. After the completion of the railway connection many Russian farmers moved to the area of the town. Kapshagai
Konaev ( kk, Қонаев; russian: Конаев), previously known as Kapchagay ( kk, Қапчағай, links=no; russian: Капшагай, links=no or ), is a city with the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan. Major General Kaidar Samigullovich Karakulov () is a Kazakh general. He is currently the commander the Regional Command "South" of the Kazakh Ground Forces. He was born 9 June 1974 in the Buguruslansky District of the Orenburg Oblast in the RSFSR. In 1991, he joined the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He graduated from the Alma-Ata Higher All-Arms Command School. Ten years later, he graduated from the National Defense University.
