Halil Berktay is a Turkish people, Turkish historian at Ibn Haldun University and was columnist for the daily ''Taraf''. Oktay Yıldırım (born 28 September 1971) is a former member of Turkey's Special Warfare Department, and was a defendant in the Ergenekon trials as well as the Turkish Council of State shooting. On 5 August 2013 Yıldırım was sentenced to 33 years and 10 months. Yıldırım was a founder in 2005 of the Kuvayı Milliye Derneği, and was head of its Istanbul branch. 2016 Turkish Coup D'état Attempt
On 15 July 2016, a faction within the Turkish Armed Forces, organized as the Peace at Home Council, attempted a coup d'état against state institutions, including the government and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. They attempted to seize control of several places in Ankara, Istanbul, Marmaris and elsewhere, such as the Asian side entrance of the Bosphorus Bridge, but failed to do so after forces loyal to the state defeated them.
