Kawana Shoppingworld is a regional shopping centre located in Buddina, Queensland, Australia, that is operated by Mirvac. Anchor tenants include Coles Supermarkets, Aldi, Woolworths Supermarkets, Big W, and JB Hi-Fi. History The centre opened in 1979 and was the first shopping centre to open on the Sunshine Coast. The centre has since undergone refurbishments. In 2002 a new food court was developed along with the addition of Bi-Lo (now Coles Supermarkets). Another extension began in January 2013 and included an Aldi supermarket and over 70 specialty stores which opened in mid-2014. In 2017 work began to add a 10-screen cinema and to expand the dining district and associated car par by 750 places. Buddina is a coastal suburb of Kawana Waters in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Buddina had a population of 3,885 people. Geography Buddina includes the business district of the Kawana Waters urban centre. The eastern half of Buddina fronts the Coral Sea with a long stretch of beaches, whilst the western half of the suburb is a canal neighbourhood. History The suburb was named by the Queensland Place Names Board on 1 September 1967. The name was proposed by the land developer Alfred Grant Pty Ltd. Kawana Waters is an urban centre on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, between Caloundra and Maroochydore along the Coral Sea coast. It was originally the estate development name and has passed into common usage, but it is not officially a town nor a locality. Maroochydore
Maroochydore ( ) is a coastal town in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. The town was subdivided from the Cotton Tree reserve by Surveyor Thomas O'Connor in 1903. The land was acquired from William Pettigrew who had a timber depot at what is now Wharf Street. Its name comes from the Yuggera language word ''Muru-kutchi'', meaning red-bill and referring to the black swan, which is commonly seen in the area.
