Kati Ahonen
Katariina "Kati" Ahonen (born 7 November 1966) is a Finnish retired ice hockey goaltender. A ten-season member of the Finnish national ice hockey team, she won bronze medals at the IIHF Women's World Championships in 1992 and 1994, and participated in five IIHF European Women Championships, winning gold at the tournaments in 1989, 1991, 1993, and 1995, and bronze at the 1996 tournament. At age 15, Ahonen debuted with the Tampereen Ilves Naiset in the inaugural season (1982–83) of the Naisten SM-sarja, the first national women’s ice hockey league in Finland. She went on to play a nineteen-season career in the league with the Tampereen Ilves Naiset, the Keravan Shakers, the Kiekko-Espoo Naiset (also under the name Espoo Blues Naiset), and the Itä-Helsingin Kiekko Naiset (IHK). Goaltender
In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as the goalie) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. The goaltender mostly plays in or near the area in front of the net called the ''Ice hockey rink#Crease, goal crease'' (often referred to simply as '' the crease''). Kiekko-Espoo Naiset Players
Kiekko-Espoo is a Finnish ice hockey club founded in 1984. Kiekko-Espoo men's team plays in the Mestis and the women's team plays in the Naisten Liiga. Kiekko-Espoo's junior teams play at national league levels in U16, U18 and U20 juniors. The junior teams of Espoo Blues and Kiekko-Espoo played under Kiekko-Espoo Juniorit ry until 2014. In 2017, and , which split from the Blues's junior organization, launched their own junior representative team and founded Kiekko-Espoo ry. Ilves (; Finnish for " Lynx") is a Finnish professional ice hockey team based in Tampere. They play in the Liiga at the Tampere Deck Arena. The colors of Ilves, green, yellow, and black, were taken from what was then the coat of arms of the city of Tampere. The Aurora Borealis Cup ( fi, Aurora Borealis -malja) is the trophy awarded to the Finnish Champion in women's ice hockey, the victorious team of the Naisten Liiga playoffs. The Aurora Borealis Cup was created to honor the quality of play in Naisten Liiga and as a symbol of support in the promotion of women's ice hockey. The 1994 IIHF Women's World Championships was held April 11–17, 1994, at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York, in the United States.
