Kathy O'Brien
Kathy O'Brien is an American former professional tennis player. O'Brien was a four-time All-American tennis player for the UCLA Bruins, the first in the program's history to achieve such honors. She and Helena Manset were doubles runners-up at the 1982 NCAA Championships. As a professional player, O'Brien made the second round of the US Open in both women's doubles and mixed doubles. All-America
The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. Helena Konanz (née Manset) is an American tennis player and Canadian politician. College career Manset attended UCLA for her undergraduate. In 1982, Manset as well as her partner Kathy O'Brien were defeated in the finals of the NCAA Women’s Doubles and in 1982 and 1983 she was named as an All-American. She graduated from UCLA in 1984 with a degree in political science. Professional career After being narrowly defeated in the NCAA Women's Doubles Finals Manset began to compete professionally. Manset had competed across the world including in the US Open and Wimbledon. She reached her peak in 1987 when she was ranked 228 overall in women's doubles. Terry Holladay (born November 28, 1955) is an American former professional tennis player who played between 1974 and 1987, whose tennis career is particularly remembered for her pregnancy and its impact on protected rankings. Biography Holladay was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and grew up in La Jolla, San Diego, California, attending and graduating from La Jolla High School.
