Kathleen Dawson
Kathleen Mary Dawson (born 3 October 1997) is a Scottish backstroke swimmer. She won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in mixed 4 × 100 metre medley relay in a world record time. She is also the European champion at the 2020 Budapest Championships and holder of the European record in 100 m backstroke (58.08). Career Dawson has represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games since 2014. She represented Great Britain at the 2016 European Aquatics Championships, and won a bronze medal in 100 metre backstroke. She also won a gold in the 4 × 100 metre medley relay. In May 2021, at the European championships held in Budapest, Dawson won gold in the 100 metres backstroke. As a result of a technical error, she had to swim twice in the final, but won on both occasions. She also won gold in 4x100m medley and mixed medley relay, and silver in 50 m backstroke at the same Championships. Backstroke
Backstroke or back crawl is one of the four swimming styles used in competitive events regulated by FINA, and the only one of these styles swum on the back. This swimming style has the advantage of easy breathing, but the disadvantage of swimmers not being able to see where they are going. It also has a different start from the other three competition swimming styles. The swimming style is similar to an ''upside down'' front crawl or freestyle. Both backstroke and front crawl are long-axis strokes. In individual medley backstroke is the second style swum; in the medley relay it is the first style swum. Anna Hopkin
Anna Hopkin (born 24 April 1996) is a British swimmer. She won gold as part of the British team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in mixed 4 × 100 metre medley relay, setting a new world record time. Career Hopkin, who is from Chorley, competed for England in the women's 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, winning a bronze medal. In May 2021, at the European Championships held in Budapest, Hopkin won gold medals in women's 4 × 100 metre freestyle, women's 4 × 100 metre medley, mixed 4 × 100 metre freestyle and mixed 4 × 100 metre medley relays. James Guy (swimmer)
James George Guy (born 26 November 1995) is an English competitive swimmer who specialises in freestyle and butterfly. Guy has won gold medals representing Great Britain at the Olympic Games, the World and European Championships, and England in the Commonwealth Games. Guy came to international prominence when he won two World Championship gold medals in the 200-metre freestyle and 4×200-metre freestyle relay event at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships. Adam George Peaty (born 28 December 1994) is an English competitive swimmer who specialises in the breaststroke. He won the gold medal in the 100 metre breaststroke at the 2016 Summer Olympics, the first by a male British swimmer in 24 years, and retained the title at the 2020 Summer Olympics in 2021, the first British swimmer ever to retain an Olympic title. Molly Renshaw (born 6 May 1996) is an English breaststroke swimmer. In 2016, she won the 200 metres breaststroke at the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m). Career In 2012, she won the national 200 m title, but was not selected for the 2012 Olympics because her time was below the qualifying standard. She swam the qualifying time at the Olympic trials of March 2012, but did not win the race, which was required for the Olympic selection. Viewing setbacks as opportunities to identify and work on areas needing improvement, Molly Renshaw overcame the disappointment of not making the 2012 Olympic team. Aimee Willmott (born 26 February 1993) is an English competitive swimmer who has represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games, FINA world championships and European championships, and England in the Commonwealth Games. She was the 2018 Commonwealth Games champion in the 400 metres individual medley. Commonwealth Games
The Commonwealth Games, often referred to as the Friendly Games or simply the Comm Games, are a quadrennial international multi-sport event among athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations.
