Katarina Pejak
Katarina Pejak is a Serbian blues singer, songwriter, and pianist. She blends a basic blues styling with elements of soul, folk and jazz. Pejak has been involved in the recording of five albums since 2010. Life and career She was born in Belgrade, Serbia. Her father was a promoter and manager of a blues and jazz club, while her mother was a flamenco dancer. Due to her parents involvement in music, many musicians descended on her home when she was growing up with music playing a regular occurrence. Pejak spent time with her two grandmothers who would inspire the youngster with their storytelling abilities. Her father's record collection gave Pejak early access to recorded works by Tom Waits, Bessie Smith, Van Morrison, and Otis Spann among others. Ana Popović ( sr-Cyrl, Ана Поповић, born May 13, 1976) is a blues singer and guitarist from Serbia who currently resides in the United States. Biography Early life Popović was born in 1976 in Belgrade. Her father (Milton Popović) introduced her to the blues, and she started to play the guitar when she was fifteen. Hush (1995–1998) In 1995, she formed the band Hush with Rade Popović (guitar, vocals), Milan Sarić (bass guitar) and Bojan Ivković (drums). Hush performed rhythm and blues, but also incorporated elements of funk and soul into their sound. The band had their first performance in the club Vox in Belgrade. During 1996, Hush performed across Serbia, also performing in Greece. Ally Marie Venable (born April 7, 1999 in Kilgore, Texas) is an American blues rock guitar player, singer, and songwriter. She is the 2014, 2015 ETX Music awards female guitar player of the year, and she and her band were the ETX Music Awards 2015, 2016 blues band of the year. Ina Forsman (born 1994) is a Finnish blues and blues rock singer-songwriter. She has been involved in the recording of six albums since 2013. Career She was born in Helsinki, Finland. At the age of six, Forsman decided she wanted to be a singer. She was initially influenced after hearing a Christina Aguilera recording, but later became entranced by the work of Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke, and Aretha Franklin. Janis Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American singer and musician. ''Turbulent Indigo'' is the 15th album by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell. Released in 1994, it won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Album. John Milward, writing for ''Rolling Stone'', wrote that it was Mitchell's "best album since the mid-'70s". The album marked her return to Warner Music (formerly WEA) distribution after her previous album, '' Night Ride Home'', was distributed by MCA for its then-newly purchased subsidiary Geffen Records (which, prior to the sale to MCA, had distributed through WEA). The album takes inspiration from the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh for Mitchell's self-portrait on the cover.
