Katanpää-class Mine Countermeasure Vessel
''Katanpää''-class mine countermeasure vessels are a class of three multipurpose mine countermeasure vessels (MCMV) ordered by the Finnish Navy. The nearly 250 million euro contract was awarded to the Italian shipyard Intermarine S.p.A. in 2006. Initially, all three vessels were scheduled to be delivered by 2014 and the class was expected to achieve operational readiness by 2015, but there have been various delays and the last vessel was handed over to the Finnish Navy in November 2016. The ''Katanpää'' class is expected to remain in service until 2040–2042. Intermarine S
Intermarine is an Italian shipbuilding company, owned by the Rodriquez Cantieri Navali Group. Company Founded in 1970, Intermarine has specialized in building boats and ships with fibre-reinforced plastic hulls. In September 2002, the company was acquired by Rodriquez Cantieri Navali, a shipbuilder focusing on high-speed vessels. This led to Intermarine introducing ships built out of steel and aluminum, using technology from their parent company. Rodriquez owns four shipyards on the west coast of Italy, all of which Intermarine has access to for production. Abeking & Rasmussen (A&R) is a shipyard situated in Lemwerder, near Bremen in the German state of Lower Saxony. The shipyard is on the left bank of the River Weser, and currently comprises five production halls with associated workshops and offices, an inner harbour and a syncrolift.
