Karrabee (ferry)
''Karrabee'' was a ferry operated by Sydney Ferries Limited and its NSW State Government operated successors on Port Jackson, Sydney Harbour from 1913 until 1984. A wooden ferry built at the time of Sydney Ferries' rapid early twentieth century, she and near "sister", ''Karingal (ferry), Karingal'', were the smallest of the fleet of round-end "Sydney K-class ferry, K-class ferries". The ferries were built as coal-fired steamer and were converted to diesel in the 1930s. Unlike many early twentieth century Sydney Ferries, they survived the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the 1930s, and the State Government takeover in 1951. ''Karrabee'' sank at Circular Quay after taking on water during the Great Ferry Race in 1984 - an incident that received extensive media coverage - and did not return to service. Sydney Ferries Limited
Sydney Ferries Limited operated ferry services on Sydney Harbour from 1900 until June 1951. The company grew out of the North Shore Steam Ferry Company and took over smaller ferry operators to become the largest ferry operator in Sydney's history. Without a physical connection across the harbour, demand for ferry services to developing areas on the North Shore rose dramatically and Sydney Ferries commissioned 27 large ferries in its own right between 1900 and 1922. The company named its vessels with Australian Aboriginal words beginning with "K". The 1932 opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge saw the companies annual patronage drop from 40 million to 15 million. The Parramatta River is an intermediate tide-dominated, drowned valley estuary located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. With an average depth of , the Parramatta River is the main tributary of Sydney Harbour, a branch of Port Jackson. Secondary tributaries include the smaller Lane Cove and Duck rivers. MV Kanangra
''Kanangra'' is a retired ferry on Sydney Harbour. She was launched in 1912 during the early-twentieth century pre-Sydney Harbour Bridge boom years of Sydney Ferries Limited. She and her close "sister" ferry, ''Kirawa'' (also 1912), were the first of four steel-hulled " K-class" ferries, the majority of which were timber-hulled. First Fleet-class Ferry
The First Fleet class is a class of ferry operated by Transdev Sydney Ferries on Sydney Harbour. History In the early 1980s, the Urban Transit Authority ordered nine catamaran ferries from Carrington Slipways, Tomago. They were to replace the '' K-class'' and wooden ''Lady'' class ferries on Sydney Harbour. The new vessels were named after ships of the First Fleet and were delivered between 1984 and 1986. It was originally intended that they would operate services on the Parramatta River, but they generated too much wash. In 2006/07, the class were repowered with MTU Series 60 engines. Lady Edeline
''Lady Edeline'' was a Sydney Harbour ferry built in 1913 for the Balmain New Ferry Company. She and four similar ferries, ''Lady Chelmsford'' (1910), '' Lady Denman'' (1912), ''Lady Ferguson'' (1914), '' Lady Scott'' (1914) were a new series of "Lady-class", designed by renowned naval architect, Walter Reeks. ''Lady Edeline'' and her four sisters survived the 1932 opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and were converted to diesel power that decade. Australian Floating Crane Titan
''Titan'' was a floating crane that operated in Sydney Harbour from 1919 until 1991. She was fabricated in Carlisle in the United Kingdom, then sent to Cockatoo Island Dockyard in Sydney for assembly, before entering service with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). After being declared surplus to requirements, the crane became the property of Cockatoo Island Dockyard, which operated it until the dockyard's closure in 1991. Although heritage-listed, ''Titan'' was sold to a Singaporean company, and authorisation was given to tow her to Singapore in 1992. Circular Quay Ferry Wharf is a complex of wharves at Circular Quay, on Sydney Cove, that serves as the hub for the Sydney Harbour ferry network.
