Cinema Of Karnataka
Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film ''Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded ''South India Movietone'' in Bangalore. Major literary works have been adapted to the Kannada screen such as B. V. ''Lucia'' is a 2013 Indian Kannada-language psychological thriller Drama (film and television), drama film written, co-edited and directed by Pawan Kumar (director), Pawan Kumar. It stars Sathish Ninasam and Sruthi Hariharan in lead roles.' The film's plot is about Nikki, an usher in theatre who has insomnia. Poornachandra Tejaswi (Kannada: ಪೂಣ೯ಚಂದ್ರ ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ) is an Indian film composer, lyricist and playback singer who primarily works in Kannada Film Industry. His film debut was made in Pawan Kumar's directed Lucia, where he wrote the film's background score, lyrics and songs. They received acclaims and honors both from audience and critics. Personal life Poornachandra Tejaswi was born (6 October 1982) into a family where both parents were teachers. He hails from the historical town of Srirangapatna in Mandya District, Karnataka. Kuppali Puttappa Poornachandra Tejaswi (8 September 1938 – 5 April 2007) was a prominent Indian writer and novelist in Kannada. He also worked as a photographer, publisher, painter, naturalist, and environmentalist. He made a great impression in the ''Navya'' ("new") period of Kannada literature and inaugurated the ''Bandaaya Saahitya'' genre of protest literature with his short-story collection ''Abachoorina Post Offisu''. He is the son of noted Kannada poet Kuvempu. At early stages of his writing career, Tejaswi wrote poems but later concentrated on Short story, short stories, novels and essays.
