Andrei Gennadyevich Karlov (russian: Андрей Геннадьевич Карлов; 4 February 1954 – 19 December 2016) was a Russian diplomat who served as the Russian ambassador to Turkey and earlier as the Russian ambassador to North Korea. On the evening of 19 December 2016, while speaking at an art gallery exhibition in Ankara, Turkey, Karlov was assassinated by Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş, an off-duty Turkish policeman. Early life and education Karlov was born in Moscow on 4 February 1954 to Gennady Karlov and Maria Alexandrovna. He also had a sister named Yelena Shirankova who was 6 years younger than him. In 1968, Karlov's father died at the age of 37 from heart failure when Karlov was 14 years old. In 1976, Karlov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Boris Karlov
Boris Karlov ( bg, Борис Карлов; August 11, 1924 – December 14, 1964) was a Bulgarian accordionist. He was born in Sofia into a Romani (Gypsy) family. His father Karlo Aliev conducted an orchestra that was often heard on radio Sofia. At an early age Boris was already passionate about folk music, played first on the ocarina and later on the tambura in his father's orchestra. Here he acquired a feeling for the harmonic structure of Bulgarian music. At the age of twelve, Karlov began to play the accordion, beginning with a simple 48-bass Hohner instrument, and progressing to a 120-bass. Eventually he had an Italian Scandalli accordion custom-made for him. From 1950 to 1960, Karlov was in demand not only in Bulgaria, but also in Yugoslavia and Austria. Georgy Karlov
Georgy Karlov (russian: Георгий Александрович Карлов; born January 4, 1971, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) is a Russian political figure and deputy of the 6th, 7th, and 8th State Dumas. From 1991 to 2001, Karlov headed the Department of Consumer Market, Trade and Services at the Administration of Sakhalin Oblast. In 2004–2005, he served as a vice-governor of the region.
