Yevgeny Karlov
Yevgeny Nikolayevich Karlov ( az, Yevgeni Karlov; 31 May 1960 – 11 April 1992) was a soldier during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War in the early 1990s. He was made a National Hero of Azerbaijan. Early life and education Karlov was born on 31 May 1960 in Dubovka village of Bogoroditsky District of Tula Oblast. He completed his secondary education at Dubovka village secondary school. In 1977, Karlov was drafted to the military service by the Military Commissariat of Uzlovaya. In 1976, he entered the Syzran Higher Military Aviation School. After the graduation in 1984, he started working as an instructor-pilot. After the establishment of Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Karlov decided to serve here. He first worked as an instructor pilot in Sanqaçal, then in the N military unit in Baku. Personal life Karlov was married and had two children. National Heroes Of Azerbaijan
The National Hero of Azerbaijan ( az, Azərbaycan milli qəhrəmanı) is the highest national title in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The title was named on 25 March 1992, and the "Qizil Ulduz" Medal awarded as a sign of receiving this title was established by a separate law in 15 July 1992. The law on the title has been in effect since 25 December 1995. It can only be awarded once to the same person. The title is awarded for outstanding services of national importance to Azerbaijan in defence and strengthening of the state system and creation of important national values. Fuzuli District
Fuzuli District ( az, Füzuli rayonu) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the south-west of the country and belongs to the Karabakh Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Khojavend, Aghjabadi, Beylagan, Jabrayil, and the Ardabil Province of Iran. Its capital is Fuzuli, however since the city is completely ruined following the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, the current ''de facto'' capital is Horadiz until Fuzuli is rebuilt. Aghdara
Martakert ( hy, Մարտակերտ, also , ) or Aghdara ( az, Ağdərə ) is a town ''de facto'' in the breakaway Republic of Artsakh as the administrative capital of its Martakert Province, ''de jure'' in the Tartar District of Azerbaijan, in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Aghdam
Aghdam ( az, Ağdam) is a ghost town and the nominal capital of the Aghdam District of Azerbaijan. Founded in the 18th century, it was granted city status in 1828 and grew considerably during the Soviet period. Aghdam lies from Stepanakert at the eastern foot of the Karabakh Range, on the outskirts of the Karabakh plain. Before the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, butter, wine and brandy, machine, and silk factories, an airport and two railway stations functioned there. By 1989, Aghdam had 28,031 inhabitants. As Azerbaijani forces withdrew from Karabakh following political turmoil in the country during the war, Armenian forces captured Aghdam in July 1993.
