Karl Martinussen
Karl Marthinussen (1890–1965) was a Norwegian theologian and priest. He served as a bishop of the Diocese of Stavanger from 1949 until 1960. Personal life Bishop Marthinussen was born on 26 November 1890 in Bergen, Norway. He was married to Borghild Haugland. He died in 1965. Education and career He graduated from the University of Christiania in 1914 with a Cand.theol. degree. He was hired as a priest at the St. Jakob parish in Bergen from 1916 until 1930. In 1932, he became the parish priest for the Sandvik Church parish in Bergen. In 1934, he was named the chairman for the Christian Democratic Party in Bergen. He worked at the Sandvik Church until 1948 when he was appointed the Bishop of the Diocese of Stavanger. The Church of Norway ( nb, Den norske kirke, nn, Den norske kyrkja, se, Norgga girku, sma, Nöörjen gærhkoe) is an evangelical Lutheran denomination of Protestant Christianity and by far the largest Christian church in Norway. Gabriel Skagestad
Gabriel Skagestad was a Norwegian theologian and priest. He served as a bishop of the Diocese of Stavanger from 1940 until 1949. Skagestad was a key figure in the resistance movement of the church during the German occupation of Norway. Personal life Gabriel Skagestad was born on 25 November 1879 in Holme in southern Norway. His parents were Tønnes Andreas Gulovsen Skagestad and his wife Else Knutsdatter. In 1913 he married Torborg Konsmo. Education and career He began his theological education in 1899 and he received his cand.theol. degree in 1903. His first job was as a chaplain in Hadsel from 1903 to 1906. Next he was a chaplain in Lyngdal from 1906 to 1909. He was a priest in Hetland from 1909 until 1913. From 1913 to 1922, he was the priest for the parish of Pipervika in Oslo. Sandvik Church
Sandvik Church ( no, Sandvikskirken) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Sandviken, Norway, Sandviken neighborhood in the city of Bergen. It is the church for the Sandviken parish which is part of the Bergen domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The brown, stone church was built in a long church design in 1881 using plans drawn up by the architects Ernst Norgrenn and Schak Bull. The church seats about 500 people. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. The purpose was to co-operate on publishing encyclopaedias and dictionaries. The first volume of Store norske leksikon (SNL) was published in 1978.
