Karl Maka
Karl Maka (born 29 February 1944) is a Hong Kong film producer, director, actor and presenter. Early life On 29 February 1944, Maka was born as Mak Kar-sheung in Taishan, China. In 1958, at age 14, Maka moved to Hong Kong. Education In 1969, Maka earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. Maka attended New York Institute of Photography. Career Maka started his career as an engineer at a telephone company. In 1976, Maka started his career in Hong Kong Films. Maka first appeared as an assassin in The Good, the Bad and the Loser, a 1976 film written and directed by him. In 1978, Maka co-founded Gar Bo, a film production company. In 1980, Maka founded Cinema City. Maka is credited with over 35 films as an actor, over 30 films as a producer, 7 films as a writer and 10 films as a director. Hong Kong Film Archive
The Hong Kong Film Archive is a film archive collects, preserves, and screens Hong Kong films and other related materials. The archive was founded in 1993, when its Planning Office was opened by the Urban Council. It joined the International Federation of Film Archives in 1996. The archive has been under the management of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department since 2000. The film archive building in Sai Wan Ho regularly hosts exhibitions, screenings and seminars showcasing Hong Kong film. The archive edits the book series ''Hong Kong Filmography'' and ''Monographs of Hong Kong Film Veterans''. It also distributes a quarterly ''Newsletter'' that reports on the latest developments of the Archive and includes features on certain aspects of film culture. ''Crazy Crooks'' is a 1980 Hong Kong comedy film produced and directed by Karl Maka and starring Dean Shek and Maka. Shek plays a master swindler who teams up with a less-than-competent amateur swindler (Maka) to scam money from a tycoon which turns out to be counterfeit bills, and end up being targeted for murder by the tycoon. Plot Mo-pei-chai is a master swindler with a sassy wife and ten children who might not all be his due to his wife's numerous affairs with many men. After endless verbal abuse from his wife, Mo-pei-chai leaves his family for good and bumps into Kwong-kwan-chat, another swindler who is rather bumbling. Kwong-kwan-chat unsuccessfully tries to swindle Mo-pei-chai, who outsmarts him. The Lifeline Express, or Jeevan Rekha Express, is a hospital train in India that has been running since 16 July 1991. It was a collaboration between the Impact India Foundation (IIF), Indian Railways (IR) and the Health Ministry. The train is funded by IIF, international charitable sources, Indian corporations and individuals. The train has made a health impact both in India, as well as around the world where it has inspired similar initiatives. ''Aces Go Places 3'' (), also known under the titles ''Aces Go Places 3 - Our Man from Bond Street'' and ''Mad Mission III'', is a 1984 Hong Kong action comedy film directed by Tsui Hark as the third installment in the ''Aces Go Places'' film series. The film starts in Paris, where King Kong (Sam Hui) is recruited by Queen Elizabeth and a James Bond-like character to retrieve one of the Crown Jewels which has been stolen and is located in a Hong Kong Police Headquarters vault. Richard Kiel spoofs his role as "Jaws" from the ''James Bond'' film series.
