Karl Kristian Steincke
Karl Kristian Vilhelm Steincke (25 August 1880 – 8 August 1963), was a Danish politician from the Social Democratic Party. He was justice minister from 1924 to 1926 in the Stauning I Cabinet, social minister from 1929 to 1935 in the Stauning II Cabinet, and justice minister again from 1935 to 1939 in the Stauning III Cabinet and in 1950 in the Hedtoft I and II Cabinets. He has been cited as the chief architect of the Danish welfare state with the Social Reform Acts of the early 1930s, including the Kanslergade Agreement. Eugenics Steincke is especially known for his book ''The Future's Social Welfare'' ( da, Fremtidens forsørgelsesvæsen) from 1920 in which he foretells: "We treat the inferior individual with all care and love, but forbid him, in return, only to reproduce himself." Helga Pedersen (Denmark)
Inger Helga Pedersen (24 June 1911 – 27 January 1980) was a Danish Chief Justice and politician. She served as Justice Minister of Denmark from 1950 to 1953 and was a member of the liberal party, '' Venstre''. Biography Pedersen was born on her parents' farm as one of 6 siblings in Tårnborg, Denmark to Jens Peder Nicolaj Pedersen (1877-1955) and Vilhelmine Sofie Kolding (1884-1973). Helga never married and had no children. She became a student from Slagelse Gymnasium in 1930 and earned her M.Sc. from the University of Copenhagen in 1936. Beginning in 1936, she worked for the Ministry of Justice in the government of Erik Eriksen (1950-1953). She was Secretary to the Ministers of Justice KK Steincke, Svend Unmack Larsen, Harald Petersen, Eigil Thune Jacobsen, Niels Busch-Jensen and Aage Elmquist, among others, during the years of World War II and the Nazi occupation. Vilhelm Buhl
Vilhelm Buhl (16 October 1881 – 18 December 1954) was Prime Minister of Denmark from 4 May 1942 to 9 November 1942 as head of the ''Unity Government'' (the Cabinet of Vilhelm Buhl I) during the German occupation of Denmark of World War II, until the Nazis ordered him removed. He was Prime Minister again from 5 May 1945 to 7 November 1945 as head of a unity government (the ''Cabinet of Vilhelm Buhl II'') after the liberation of Denmark by the British Field Marshal Montgomery. Vilhelm Buhl was a member of the Social Democrats. He joined the party while a law student at the University of Copenhagen. Buhl held the post of Finance Minister in the cabinets of Thorvald Stauning from 20 July 1937 to 4 May 1942. Ingeborg Hansen
Ingeborg Cathrine Hansen (17 February 1886 – 5 August 1954) was a Danish lawyer and politician of the Social Democratic Party. Elected speaker of the Landsting in 1950, she was the first female speaker in Denmark when its Parliament was bicameral. Hansen was born in Copenhagen. She was a member of the Landsting (the upper chamber of Parliament) from 1936. When K.K. Steincke was appointed minister of justice in 1950, she was elected speaker of the Landsting. In 1951 Steincke returned as speaker, but when he exited the Landsting again in 1952, she was again elected speaker. As such she was the last speaker of the Landsting until its abolition with the constitution of 1953. Ingeborg Hansen, as the only member in both chambers of Parliament, voted against the reinstitution of the death penalty with retroactive force in the Danish purge after World War II. Landsting (Denmark)
Landstinget was the upper house of the Rigsdag (the parliament of Denmark), from 1849 until 1953, when the bicameral system was abolished in favour of unicameralism. Landstinget had powers equal to the Folketing, which made the two houses of parliament hard to distinguish. Originally, membership and the electorate was restricted, and the members were largely conservatives. Membership of the house was then restricted to certain sectors of society: only males with a certain net worth could hold a seat. In 1915, these restrictions were removed, and a few new members were appointed by the existing members. Etymology and earlier use (old Norse: þing) means assembly. Svend Unmack Larsen
Svend Unmack Larsen (23 September 1893, in Aarhus – 23 March 1965) was a Danish politician for the Social Democratic Party who served as Denmark's Minister of Justice (1939–1940) and was the mayor of Aarhus, Denmark for 13 years (1945–1958). Early life Larsen was born in Aarhus on 23 September 1893, the son of L.M. Larsen and Thyra Vilhelmine Unmack. His father was the director of the city's poorhouse and Larsen was raised there. Carl Theodor Zahle
Carl Theodor Zahle (19 January 1866 in Roskilde – 3 February 1946 in Copenhagen), was a Danish lawyer and politician who served as Prims Minister of Denmark from 1909 to 1910 and again from 1913 to 1920. In 1895, he was elected as a member of the lower chamber of the Danish parliament, the Folketing, for the Liberal Party (''Venstrereformpartiet'').
