Karine Plantadit (born January 15, 1970) is a dancer and performer. She was born in France and raised in Cameroon. She moved to Cannes at age 14 to study dance. She subsequently moved to New York City to study dance with Alvin Ailey. Plantadit was nominated in 2010 for a Tony Award in the category of Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her playing the role of Kate in the musical ''Come Fly Away''. Saturday Night Fever (musical)
''Saturday Night Fever'' is a 1998 jukebox musical based on the 1977 film '' Saturday Night Fever''. Its book is by Nan Knighton (in collaboration with Arlene Phillips, Paul Nicholas, and Robert Stigwood), and the songs mostly consist of songs that were featured in the film's soundtrack, which in turn were mostly written and performed by the Bee Gees. The musical focuses on Tony Manero, an Italian-American Brooklyn youth whose weekend is spent at the local discotheque. Conceived and created by Twyla Tharp, the musical tells the story of a generation of American youth growing up on Long Island during the 1960s and their experiences with the Vietnam War. ''Come Fly Away'' is a dance revue conceived, directed and choreographed by Twyla Tharp, around the songs of Frank Sinatra. The musical, set in a New York City nightclub, follows four couples as they look for love. It premiered on Broadway in March 2010 after tryouts in Atlanta and has received mostly warm reviews. Production ''Come Fly Away'', originally titled ''Come Fly with Me'', ran at the Alliance Theatre, Atlanta, in September 2009.
