Karin Page
Karin Page is an Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Karin won the Star Maker award at the 2016 Country Music Awards of Australia. Originally from Western Australia, Page moved to Byron Bay, New South Wales in 2016. Early life and career Page attended Perth Modern School on a music scholarship before graduating in contemporary music from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She formed and fronted the band Spoonful of Sugar which was then renamed China Doll. In 2014 Page toured and played with her partner Adam Nyeholt. In 2016 Page released two singles. "Keep On" and "Wherever You Are" both of which have received substantial airplay on radio stations all over Australia. Country Music Awards Of Australia
The Country Music Awards of Australia also known as the Golden Guitar Awards (originally named Australasian Country Music Awards) is an annual awards night held in January during the Tamworth Country Music Festival, in Tamworth, New South Wales, celebrating recording excellence in the Australian country music industry. The awards are hosted at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre (TRECC) on the final Saturday night of the Tamworth Festival. They have been held annually since 1973. The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) at Edith Cowan University (ECU) was established in 1980 to provide performing arts tuition. WAAPA (commonly pronounced "whopp-a") operates as a part of ECU, located at the ECU campus in Mount Lawley, a suburb in Perth, Western Australia. WAM Song Of The Year
WAM was originally formed as the Western Australian Rock Music Industry Association Inc. (WARMIA) in 1985, with its main aim to develop and run annual awards recognising achievements within the music industry in Western Australia. WAM first received project funding from the state government in 1989, and in the early 90s the word "rock" was dropped from the title to give the organisation scope to take on a broader constituency. In 1989 the inaugural WA Song Contest commenced, in 2002 it was rebranded as the WAM Song of the Year. The WAM Song of the Year is open to all residents of Western Australia. The song must be the original work of the songwriter(s). Songwriters with a publishing deal can only enter the Professional category.
