Karin Meyer
Karin Meyer (née ''Karin Eugenea Johansson'', January 9, 1897 – August 9, 1963) was a Swedish–Norwegian actress. Meyer was born in Dalarna, Sweden. She performed at the National Theater in Oslo from 1922 to 1943. This was interrupted by a hiatus from 1928 to 1936, when she resigned from the National Theater and performed at the Carl Johan Theater and the New Theater, including in Henrik Ibsen's play ''Catiline'' in 1935. In the 1930s, Meyer also played roles on the radio. When Sigurd Hoel published '' Møte ved milepelen'' (Meeting at the Milestone) in 1947, she was one of the role models for the "dissatisfied and unsuccessful" group. She was married to the trade union politician Håkon Meyer from 1917 to 1928, and she then married the advertising manager Bjarne Lysholm Sellæg (1892–1951) in 1928.''Aftenposten'', October 23, 1951. It is about an upper-class girl and a working-class boy that join forces and become members of Nasjonal Samling (NS), Vidkun Quisling's far-right political party before and during the World War II. ''Unge viljer'' is a "state political" propaganda film that purports to depict the difficult social conditions in Norway in the 1930s that led to the formation of the NS in 1933. ''Fant'' (The Gypsy) is a Norwegian film from 1937 based on Gabriel Scott's 1928 novel of the same name. The film was directed by Tancred Ibsen, who was also wrote the script for the film. The film premiered on December 26, 1937 at the Eldorado Cinema in Oslo. The film is about a young orphaned girl Josefa (played by Sonja Wigert), who escapes from her wicked uncle (played by Einar Tveito) and eventually falls in love with a Roma named Fændrik (played by Alfred Maurstad). Fændrik belongs to a seafaring group of Roma that travel around Southern Norway, and in many ways the film is typical of the contemporary view of the Roma people and their culture.
